YSL's developer went bankrupt and the receivership sold the development to Concord Pacific.

^Toronto skyscraper architecture often feels like a buffet of styles: you just cram every kind of food you can on your plate, go back to your table, and stuff your face.

This tower does this too, but it's like you went to a curated buffet where even if you ladle every combo of food onto your plate, it all kind of fits.

This "style" has become so ubiquitous in Toronto that it's starting to become iconic, so you might as well have a gold standard to aspire to.

Well Yorkville is definitely a mish mash of style which is why I think it has the most dynamic skyine in the city. I'm hoping to see more of our gold proposals become our gold standard though. We have a lot of cool designs in the pipeline.

Any clue why they are saving the facade?

1120 units... It is an Arco. The standard is insufficient. Ideas are a commercial "town square" 40 storeys up and a stairwell besides the elevators and emergency stairs.

Is that a joke? What heritage quality can that possibly have? Especially compared to the other buildings that will be lost. Toronto is ridiculous.

I don't know if I would call it sterilizing knowing an entire block will be busted. The coverage here is intense and the number of units could potential house 3000 or more people as housing costs continue to escalate. The population density per square kilometre could be in the several million.

But what does that matter if every street wall ends up as the same characterless glass windowed CRU's or worse yet condo lobbies?
