Any guesses on what BA will do for a lounge in the near term? The logical thing would be to partner with Alaska, but their lounge is in Concourse C, which is not currently connected to the international gates in Concourse D. It seems unlikely that United or Delta would be willing to allow BA to use their lounges.

BA's affiliates are Alaska and American Airlines, neither of which are in Concourse D. My guess is they just won't have one. At least not anytime soon.

Surprised there hasn't been a peep from the local media regarding the British Airways announcement. Nothing! Wasted opportunity. Maybe they will chime in once PDX officially posts an announcement.

I too would like to see this. My son and I were recognized as Italian citizens last year and I'd like to take him, but the pandemic has put our travel plans on hold.

I'm surprised by this too. The only coverage I've seen so far is in Portland Monthly.

Portland International Airport will soon add a new trans-Atlantic flight to its rotation, thanks to a joint venture between several airlines.

British Airways will begin offering direct flights between Portland and London’s Heathrow Airport beginning June 3. The route is one of three new Europe to North America flights introduced by the Atlantic Joint Business, a partnership between American Airlines, British Airways Iberia, Finnair, LEVEL and Aer Lingus.

Have others noticed the updated wayfinding signage at PDX (a glimpse is visible in the lower left of the photo accompanying The Oregonian’s story on the opening of concourse B)?

While the new signs are clean and some are internally lit, I wonder if some color differentiation for the type of information might have made the signs more quickly legible—especially from a distance.

You can see the new signage in some of the updated renderings on ZGF's website.

The black-on-yellow signage developed by the former British Airports Authority is kind of ugly, but it's also really legible. It's still in use at Heathrow (owned by BAA's successor company), but I can't remember if it's still used at other UK airports that are now in different ownership.

What are they going to do about the terrible set up we have for passport control for international arrivals? Still baffles me that we are "America's best airport" with that embarrassing passenger flow.

This roof is for the main terminal which is being expanded to the West, nearly doubling the size of the current main terminal. The airlines will continue to operate out of their respective concourses.

This structure is going to be a great introduction to Portland for people flying into the city.

I agree. It looks absolutely stunning in the renderings. Very spacious and open, like much of Oregon.

Has anyone seen rendering of what the land side of the new main terminal will look like? All the renderings I've seen show the air side.

^My understanding is the current glass walls on the upper section will remain. I'm not sure what the baggage claim is going to look like.

We really need a high quality video tour of the finished product of what it will look like as we saw with the ritz Carlton recently
