Oh snap! That Proper hotel is lookin good PW! Nice Skyline shot Craigs. And Yes, the California Market Center is a big project. Not sure what this massive upgrade will indirectly cause in the nearby Santee alley.
Meanwhile on Spring St. Los Angeles based Rising Realty has relocated their headquarters by moving into their recently debuted
The Trust Building. Still to be unveiled is a rooftop restaurant and bar concept by Curtis Stone and ground floor retail. The external building facade lighting is stunning and the interior looks equally impressive. Rising seems to do great work and is one of the only players to resurrect historic office buildings and release them back on the market as relevant office space; rather than doing a conversion to hotel or residential. They seem to have a business case and vision for their home market to keep investing in and creating "new" office space. I think it's great that we still have local players owning major assets in our city. It's not always the biggest projects; but its all of the details and "small" things that intertwine, that make for a great, livable fun city... and its companies like Rising that operate out of the area they are investing in..., that in everyday, can see and craft those little details. Bravo!!
With the not too recent fall of LA based Maguire Properties, who built and owned much of the downtown skyline, a lot of the major towers are owned by New York based companies like Brookfield and Silverstein... grateful for their contribution too... and there is something to be said for local based insight. Cal Plaza is the only locally owned office tower complex remaining in downtown. Cal 1 is Rising Realty and Cal 2 is CIM. Also DTLA has lost 2 Fortune 500 HQ companies in the last couple years to Dallas with CBRE and AECOM (although they moved HQ out to century city for a few years before going to Dallas). DTLA is now left with 1 remaining F500 with Reliance Steel in Cal Plaza 2.
With all of the recent moves of companies out of the city, seems like central Los Angeles will be well positioned in the future to foster new local companies and Rising is crafting space for those to grow from small to large.
And next door, the renovations continue on the soon to be Cambria Hotel. Both of these projects sit directly across the street from Spring St. Park and should bring increased use to that pocket park.
Oh and who is that peeking out... is that a Brookfield I see.
