This is so cringe you gotta be a parody of yourself. How can you be this cowardly and pathetic? Onecity isn't even fielding a mayoral candidate in 2022.
Do you have anything useful to say? Did you ever?

With so many mayoral candidates, we should some form or runoff voting, either Ranked-choice or Approval IMO.

About the cowardly and pathetic behaviour you use to camouflage common bigotry? I thought it's quite relevant to Vancouver politics considering it's all you ever talk about. It mirrors a frequent phenomenon not just online but also in Cityhall discussions. I believe I'm right on topic, albeit slightly uncomfortable. But I think its influences are underappreciated, with some interesting ramificaitons.

Also, everybody can see what you wrote, and how you responded after being exposed. Its not just the richmond development threat, it's pretty much every post you make. No need to get triggered here. cowardly and pathetic are actually the more polite terms to describe your behaviour.

Blah, blah , blah.

Everyone’s smart enough to see your true motivation in your kneejerk defence of Holborn’s deal screwing over the BC taxpayers.

just throwing turd at the wall to see what sticks eh? I don't even know what that it, and I don't care to defend myself.

Just wanna share this discussion right here near the bottom of the page where whatnext is posting the usual peekaboo racism routine and then people from all over the forum came together to share what a shitshow he's been on every thread he is involved in. There is even a guy in there who came to his defense to claim that it's the people who call out racism who are actually racist. It's too perfect of a caricature of Vancouver political discussions. Cue this thread where this man starts hurling random insults and shredding every last ounce of self-respect he still had. A lot of people say you turn discussions instantly toxic but I disagree. Your desperate struggle is pure theatre. You turn self-loathing into an art form. You deserve no respect but I recognize your talent.

I also happen to feel he exemplifies an undertone of Vancouver political discourse that deserves more attention and scrutiny. Yes, exposing it is uncomfortable, but I think it's quite on topic.

Still won't help Ken Sim - if you tally all the left and right votes from 2018 and pit them against each other, he actually comes out losing worse.

Stewart is their defacto candidate.

Dan Fumano: Vancouver mayor forming new political party for 2022
Kennedy Stewart, elected in 2018 as an independent, has decided he'd rather have a political party around him

Author of the article: Dan Fumano
Publishing date: Dec 17, 2021 • 4 minute read

Tired of being a soloist, Kennedy Stewart wants to form a band.

The rock bassist turned academic turned politician became Vancouver’s first independent mayor in a generation when he was elected in 2018 without the backing of a civic party. Since then, he has overseen Vancouver’s most mixed council in years, a fragmented and sometimes fractious group.

Stewart is proud of Vancouver’s direction, despite challenges posed by COVID-19, and says he deserves a second term.

But the mayor has expressed frustration he has not been able to move faster and do more during the first three years of the four-year term.

So, Stewart has decided that when he runs for re-election in October, it won’t be as an independent: The mayor and his supporters are preparing to file papers with Elections B.C. in the next month or two to register a civic political party.

....

Whatever name is chosen, voters will soon learn more about Vancouver’s newest civic party. Stewart says he is vetting candidates to run for council under the party banner next year. He hopes to unveil them in January or February.

Stewart wouldn’t reveal names of possible candidates, but said he’s talking to people Vancouverites might recognize. He wants “a really good group of people that will be cohesive, that will work together, and have reach into different communities across the city.”

“I want a majority on council I can work with,” Stewart said. “If we know we have the votes on council, we can do more.”

The party is not expecting to run candidates for park board or school board, focusing on mayor and council.

.......

Stewart said he is open to endorsing candidates from other parties. Most likely of those would seem to be OneCity Coun. Christine Boyle, the councillor with whom Stewart seems most politically aligned this term, who is seeking re-election. OneCity has had a recent flurry of hopefuls announcing their intention to seek the party’s endorsement next year.

Stewart said, however, he will not endorse council candidates from any party also running a mayoral contender.

The most experienced member of Vancouver’s council, Green Coun. Adriane Carr, said she has “been receiving quite a lot of pressure to run for mayor,” but hasn’t yet decided whether she will do that, or run for a fourth term on council.

Carr said Stewart has done a good job getting money from senior governments for things like social housing and transportation, but she criticized him for casting the deciding vote this year to kill a $45 a year parking charge intended to fund the city’s climate emergency plan.

Mike Howell: Vancouver mayor will seek re-election in 2022 with a new ‘party’
Kennedy Stewart: ‘I need a majority on council so that you don't get too many more white-knuckled rides through the budget process’

Mike Howell Mike Howell about 3 hours ago

First question: Have you got a name for your new party?

Stewart: “We've got it down to three finalists. It's something I want to work on with the potential candidates, as well. I want to include them in that because people have to have [the party name] beside their name. So I don’t want to blow the launch [in telling you the potential party names].”

So you’ve already found some candidates?

“I’ve already secured two people.”

Would the general public know who they are?

“Oh yeah, you’ll know who they are.”

Stewart went on to tell me the two candidates are not current councillors and that his goal is to get enough people interested to run that he could form a majority at city hall. That could mean five or more newcomers to politics, or a mix of newcomers and candidates from other parties that he endorses to achieve that majority.

-------------

If — and it’s a big if, as I write this in December and the election isn’t until October and Omicron is presently wreaking havoc on the world — Stewart gets re-elected and he wins a majority, Vancouverites can expect he will push to bring a ward electoral system to the city.

“That's really important to me, and that's an example of what will have to be negotiated prior to the election and prior to any endorsements,” he said.

-------------

Stewart said he’s interviewed 20 people interested in running for council. He’s sought them out when at events and meeting with non-profits and other organizations.

He mentioned former Vision Vancouver park board commissioner Constance Barnes is interested in running with OneCity. I mentioned the city’s former Indigenous relations manager Ginger Gosnell-Myers is considering a run with Vision Vancouver.

“Either one of those folks would be great to work with,” he said.

A Better City Vancouver @ABetterCityVan

Our team led by @kensimcity is committed to introducing a Split Ward System that will balance representation of 5 large regions of our city with 5 Councillors & Mayor elected at large who represent everyone.

Why choose between two systems when we can have the best of both?

I'm a leftist, I vote for the left wing pro labour options. The Vancouver district labour council lists their endorsements every election, I always vote for their recommendations. They have already endorsed Stewart so he'll get my mayoral vote

Did Vancouver 1st join the NPA? They're starting to sound just like them, with the ridiculous promises that a city hall has no jurisdiction to deliver on.

That's so wild to me.

I mean this respectfully, but do you not do your own deep dive to make sure the candidate actually makes sense?

With an incumbent, history is clear to see, and in my mind would be the most relevant factor.

The NPA's board was taken over by elements I can only describe as "alt-right". They aren't the same party that has been in charge of this city in the past.

Yeah, I know. My bad for forgetting A Better City split from them too... in which case, Ken Sim has automatically devolved his party into an "I have no chance of getting elected" libertarian group.

Stewart comes from the same NDP pipeline as Robertson. he's more politically supported than people realize. Running against an NDP pick when Carr already has a council seat in the bag is just political suicide.

I feel like NPA is headed for a really dark place this election. Their tweeter circle consists of a very edgy intersection between anti-bike lanes, anti-crime (homelessness), anti-development, and anti-china rhetorics, but without concrete solutions for any of their priorities. I'm very curious what kind of people can still stomach voting for the NPA at this point.

You're painting Ken Sim as libertarian? Have you listened to anything he has said?

Who even runs the "District Labour Council". Talk about evil puppetmasters from right out of a movie.

I didn't call him libertarian, I called his campaign style libertarian - "scrap the Parks Board" and "redraw the electoral map" is the same kind of undeliverable crap you'd expect from Golok Buday or Fred Harding.

Next thing you know ABC will try and promise us an NFL team.

Kennedy Stewart ran on changing the council structure to a ward system in 2018. He still wants to do it based on a recent interview.

As for the Park Board, I support folding them into a City department, like the rest of North America.

Promising to end homelessness, now there's some "undeliverable crap".
