ESB so bosses above it's not even funny. It's literally the one of the most perfect skyscrapers there has ever been.

Does anyone know when the winner will be formally announced?

Also, has the amount of office space been disclosed? If the building is 2m sf, I assume that it’s at least 1m.

Firstly, I don't want to have to keep cleaning up your posts in this thread. Any more, and you'll just be banned from this thread.

As far as when it will be announced, and size of the proposal, they have not set a date for a selection, and the full scope of this proposal (as well as the others) has not been revealed.

Given the preference for hotels in the RFP, I assume that this was the site where Gary planned the massive convention center hotel.

This was the site of Extell's planned 980 ft hotel tower.

So that explains the interest in hotels here. This tower is going to be amazing.

With the expanded Javits Center, there have been plans for a major hotel, both on this site and at the northern end. But there are also new hotels opening up along this stretch of 11th Avenue to complement the Javits Center as well. The RFP also allows residential, but no more than half the space can be residential.

I'm sure I'm going to get reamed for this, but I really don't think this tower is going to rise. A building will eventually rise here of course, too prime a spot to sit empty for long, but not this current iteration.

Something about this proposal screams vaporware to me. Think this is going to be a Chicago Spire type situation.

I hope to be proven wrong of course. Anyone wanna take bets?

What I find most flabbergasting and unfortunate about the site is that the MTA, a state agency that needs all the money it can get and should be maximizing all the assets it has to maximum effect, would not have constructed their ventilation building for the 7 Line extension in a manner that it could be used as a foundation for a real estate project, in this case a supertall tower, and sold the rights to use it as such to the future developer. But no, the already awkward site, due to the rail tunnel easement, is limited even further by an auxiliary structure that has to be cantilevered over just for the site planning to make economic sense. Does that honestly sound like the competent way this site should have been managed?

This is NY — not Chicago. I’ll take that bet.

I didn’t realize that Moinian also planned a 1,400 room hotel here.

https://www.thefreelibrary.com/Moinian+is+out+to+impress+with+Javits+hotel+proposal.-a0159026896

“… Manhattan developer Joseph Moinian, who is partnering with Marriott in his proposal to build a 1,400-room convention hotel on the 11th Avenue site between 35th and 36th street, said that the state would likely prefer developers who had a higher stake in the West Side.”

Yea, I said this a few pages back. Feels a bit more visionary than like a real proposal but let's see... Adjaye was behind that 800 footer near the Brooklyn Bridge though (130 William was it?)

It seems likely that something very tall will go here though given the potential of the site, I hope so at least.
