Someone’s been watching The Great! Haha

I sure hope whatever they’re doing isn’t a clone of the original plans… but whatever, that block is dead and anything will help

Since you were kind enough to ask; yes, new vehicles are getting safer for pedestrians. Although it may seem counterintuitive when looking at these slab-faced behemoths, it's apparently better for a pedestrian to be hit by one of those than by a low-nosed sports car that shatters your legs and then has your head hit the windshield.

Lots of info available on this, here's just a couple:

A quick search suggests that is not entirely true:

https://www.iihs.org/news/detail/new-stu...are-more-lethal-to-pedestrians-than-cars

https://www.consumerreports.org/car-safety/the-hidden-dangers-of-big-trucks/

I think that blindspot on a 2020 Dodge Ram is the telling item to me.

No arguing that pickups in particular have gotten ridiculous. The hood on a stock ride height Silverado is around my shoulders. Has to impact visibility. So while pedestrians my be better able to survive an impact than they once were, they may be more likely to get hit in the first place.

It’s still posted as a sale or lease opportunity, so I guess the original plans are a go! Oh well it’ll be prettier than what’s there now and another commercial building of that size will continue to hurt suburban commercial pricing.

Couple of pics Nov. 29

A couple of pics from yesterday. Nice light in the afternoon. One is of the small crane at the old blood services building. You can see the tip of the crane on 25th in the background.

Well that was a failed attemp.

If you support this Nordic Spa concept, you need to be vocal about it. I encourage you to let your city councilor know how you feel (and hopefully you DO support it!!). If this comes back to council, they need to have heard from what I hope might be the majority that supports this, rather then very vocal minority who oppose it. At least that is my hopeful assumption....

I was gonna say, NIMBYism in Saskatoon has been very lucrative for the communities outside of the city limits. Corman Park and the Whitecap First Nation are making a killing.

Nordic Spa

How about the old Saskatoon Sanatorium Site off spadina south. Next to river for hiking and biking. Near Holiday park golf course for golfing in summer, cross country skiing or snowshoeing in winter. Right beside Gordie Howe campground. I think it would be a great location.

That location has my vote, or even closer downtown on one of the many unsold parcel’s the city is holding on to until everyone currently living is dead. Third pick is the casino. I don’t really care for The Willows, so if i’m going to drive I may as will drive to the casino/resort outside of town for this type of experience.

This beauty lot sold, hopefully not just a silly land transfer and a serious developer - if Baydo and Meridian complete construction while this project gets started right after we will have a pretty dense little area of downtown.

What's the latest we've heard regarding Meridian's downtown project?

Baydo broadway, Baydo downtown, Main street ... some great momentum towards density.

Some 'festive' light decorations are in the Plaza of River Landing and also in the lobbies of the 2 towers. Looks pretty nice...can see a few "selfies" being taken there...lol

I absolutely love this. That area of 2nd Ave is quickly becoming a lively part of the city.

the smaller building to the left in this shot is a new vet clinic too - we’ve gone from zero to 2 vet clinics downtown in the last six months. Hopefully we get a doctors office next since there’s basically zero DT
