I think they'll make a killing at this location.

Putting in water and sewer at the new Burger King/KFC location. Looks like we'll have a speed bump for the winter.

If you peer through the window, you can see a digger being used to tear up the concrete floor, probably for plumbing. It leads one to believe the renovations are for a new QSR/takeout of some form.
Apparently the new tenant for this CRU in Valhalla Place will be Mansu Korean BBQ. They have an existing location in Dieppe. I presume this is a second unit, and not a relocation.

Found on CCD Canada:

Quote:
MEZZA LEBANESE RESTAURANT GROUP, MONCTON

CCD Ref. Number : NB164373-21-10

Stage : 3-Planning or drawing

Published : October 20, 2021

Starting Date (estimated) : Not available

Size : Minor ($339,000)

Work type : Expansion / Addition

Sector : Private

Category : 2-Commercial

Subcategories : 2C-Retail Trade

Disciplines : ARCH, ELEC, EQUI, HVAC, MEC-B, STRUC, OTHER*

Location :

MONCTON (NB)
(Moncton - Richibucto)

Description :
COMMERCIAL BUILDING EXPANSION -
Located in Moncton, this project (Mezza Lebanese Restaurant Group*) estimated at $339 000 is in the planning stage. Works concern the expansion of a commercial building for a restaurant.

- Initiator: INFORMATION AVAILABLE TO SUBSCRIBERS
This is a new listing on CCD Canada. There have been other recent construction cards posted on the CCD site for new Mezza locations in both Dieppe and Riverview, so this would appear to be a confirmation there will indeed be a fourth Mezza location to be built in the metro area.

Also of note, this card describes the project as an "expansion/addition" to a commercial building, which would appear to correspond to the leasing plan found on the Plaza Corp website showing a Mezza in the Plaza Boulevard Centre occupying the former lole space.

With four Mezza locations, we will be better served per capita here in Moncton than they are in Mezza's birthplace of Halifax. There are 11 locations in HRM for 450K people. We will have 4 locations for 160k people, slightly better than them.

2 eateries have failed in that strip mall, maybe even in that exact space if I remember correctly so I wonder why Mezza thinks they would be any different...

It's such a hard plaza to access with only one entrance and a busy area to turn left into or out from. Not a great place for a restaurant.

The Plaza Boulevard Centre indeed has a very unfortunately placed entrance with poor access/egress, but, for acolytes of Mezza, this will be by far the most convenient location for the 30,000 residents of the north end on the way home after work.

I suspect they will do not badly there. If people really want to patronize a particular business, they will; no matter what difficulties exist in getting there.

Does literally everything have to be a competition? It's just a Lebanese food chain.

Food places have a tendency to have the highest turnover of just about any retail tenant. Par for the course.

I'm not implying a competition. If anything, this is an expression of concern regarding the possibility of premature overexpansion into the Moncton market, or irrational exuberance by the franchisee regarding the popularity of Mezza.

It took a decade or so for Mezza to achieve 11 locations in HRM. To expect a comparable market saturation in metro Moncton within 2-3 years may be a bit of a stretch.

The Mezza concept however is known to many Monctonians (due to previous exposure from visits to Halifax), and i wish the local franchisee well, but there could be a few rocky years before the concept catches hold with the overwhelming plurality of Monctonians.

The tower crane for The Vizion on Lady Ada (taken from the window of my dentist's office).

I just thought it was an interesting shot, what with the rising full moon in the background. The majority of the structural skeleton of the Vizion is hidden in behind the Four Points Hotel (for now), but it appears they are starting to work on the fourth floor of the building. With a final floor count of eight storeys, this building will soon arise quite distinctly above the Four Points.

There was mention on CCD Canada for a construction card for Magnetic Hill Zoo, phases 1-3, so this means the city is beginning to put feelers out there for the zoo expansion which should commence within the next couple of years.

I wonder what will ultimately happen to the land in the immediate foreground of this photo (right on the NW corner of the Ensley/Mountain Rd intersection)?

There is a new lot cleared in the Moncton West Industrial Park, just to the east of Atlantic Outdoor. No construction activity yet, but there is an excavator on site.

Updated render of the Vizion by Quest Capital on Lady Ada Blvd, behind the Four Points by Sheraton Hotel.

They are currently working on the fourth floor. Opening will be in the summer of 2023.

Do you have the old render for reference? I don’t see much of a difference.
