It's an ancient design (proposal) for a site in the West Sixth area of downtown (near ABC Bank). I believe it was to be a hotel or a mix of hotel and residential.

There was no proposal. The site was for sale. I'm not sure if it ever sold or not. A new, Austin based ping-pong bar took over for Spin. So the site likely isn't being considered for redevelopment anytime soon.

Gotcha - makes sense. I remember Spin closed but I Couldn't remember if it was development related or Rona related.

I think we had a thread for it several years ago. It was called "6th & Nueces Hotel" IIRC. I believe a site plan was filed, but never updated. The project just faded away...

Clive in particular must be really feeling a labor/materials shortage.

It's a difficult comparison to the Quincy (because Endeavor has a very proven track record of completing projects on time without big issues), but this construction has taken longer than the Quincy has, and it's about the size of a typical house in Tarrytown.... It just seems mindblowing how they've managed to stay closed for so long when the rest of the bars on Rainey are swimming in $.

The platform won’t be here for long, though: It exists only so that Coon can sell people on his new plan, announced Tuesday, to turn the Camelback into the site of an ultra-luxury condo community with 179 cliffside homes, a private marina, a sprawling athletic center with outdoor and indoor tennis courts—and an air-conditioned, glass-box funicular that will whisk residents from hilltop to lakeside in two minutes flat. Four Seasons, the luxury resort company famous for such properties as the Grand-Hôtel du Cap-Ferrat on the French Riviera as well as high-end hotels and residences in Austin, Houston, and Dallas, will manage the property, to be known as the Four Seasons Private Residences Lake Austin.

IIRC this was going to be something more dense with a public restaurant and marina. Now it's just a wealthy enclave though the park near the 360 bridge will be an improvement. It's too bad more Austinites won't get to enjoy this.

I wondered about that. Juan Pelota’s been vacant for awhile now.

Juan Pelota’s still open, I stop by every other week.

The eastern side of the block is smothered by the CVC from what I can tell. My source only mentioned LZR but I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s more than one building involved.

If I'm not mistaken, the Little Shoal Creek Tunnel still runs diagonally under that block, roughly parallel to the CVCs. It was partially realigned into the ROW when IBC Bank was built, but I believe it still exists close to where that large tree in the middle of the block is located. I wasn't able to find any drawings with a quick Google search.
