Yes, one might even venture to say they are very "un-Chris Dikeakos-like".

They don't have too much or a whole lot going on them design-wise (not in a bad way), unlike the two adjacent Dikeakos towers they'll be neighbours to there in Modello and Gold House.

They have bit more of a streamlined 'Neo Art Deco'' like theme and motif happening.
It's quite nice.

I would sum them up in calling them “handsome.” They actually have a bit of a Japanese vibe.

There are a lot of previously unknown towers shown on the 3D map. Cool find!

This is what Belford had on the Sun Towers website

I guess the Site 2 is the "third" Sun Tower?

Quote:
The developer is seeking to transfer all 220 replacement units plus the remaining required non-market rentals to the Telford Avenue site, which together with the Cassie/McKay site would make up phase 1 of the development. In all, the Telford rental site would see 420 below-market rental units between two towers.

The Silver and Maywood sites would either be built together at a later date or, if the market is less amenable, separately at later dates.

That seems about right.
It seems to match the same location as the one shown on the 6280 Willingdon project context massing image, across from the park.

It also seems to show massing for what could be their 4th or 5th towers based on that image farther down south adjacent to Maywood avenue,..

.......but highly doubt they'll keep the naming scheme and be going with "Sun Towers 4" (...or 5)
.... for obvious reasons.
Unless its a rental tower.

Here's another showing the podium from the south.

Burnaby is on fire!

6280 Willingdon Ave is nice, simple but effective. I appreciate that the two towers aren't attached by a massive podium but does anyone know what the space between them is supposed to be?

It looks like a driveway to me which i find concerning especially as a break in the streetwall, though it could be some open space which i'd be fine with.

Looks like the driveway is on Cassie and it is some kind of plaza. There's some kind of covered section between the two buildings facing Willingdon.

What Jollyburger said.

It does seem like some kind of public plaza or shared outdoor amenity space for the two towers with no access (for non-residents) from Willingdon, while the driveway or access to the underground parkade is from Cassie.

The taller tower (the more northern one) does seem like it might have some retail component on the podium at street level facing Willingdon, though.

This is just a guess on my part, but I believe they flipped the script a little bit on this one, and the shorter tower is actually the condo tower, while the taller one is the non-market/rental tower.
Just based on what seems like additional amenity space atop it's much bigger podium alongside a gasket floor that is also likely a full amenity space and all dedicated just to that tower.
Also the bigger podium means they get to fit more (saleable) units and more program and density into the shorter tower - which if it were all a single tower with a two or three level podium would make it the taller tower between the two.
(and taller than it is now by about 4-5 levels - which would actually make it as tall as Modello is now, if not a floor or 2 taller.)

So while the shorter tower is indeed 'shorter' it's actually the "bigger" tower (density-wise) of the two.

Okay, so it turns out I was wrong with my little theory, so scratch all that.
More on that in a bit...

Here are some more views of that public plaza which seem to confirm it's not a throughway, and the access to the parkade is from Cassie while there seems to be some sort of public art installation-type feature proposed for the Willingdon side.

Images were not shown before and are from Daily Hive:-

....also, per my (incorrect) theory, it seems like BOTH towers are Condo towers, with the chunky massive podium of the shorter tower being what will serve as the Rental non-market component.

Does anyone know if Burnaby is planning for a future SkyTrain down Willingdon (wrt building setbacks)?
(and whether a Willingdon Line would turn east to meet with Metrotown Station or
whether it would remain on Willingdon heading further south with a block long transfer between the two, maybe on an elevated walkway).
These towers all seem to be set back a lot, but I assume that's for a bike path.

The space between (Holdom)[oops sorry] and Brentwood is filling in. I can see eventually it will just be a continuous row of towers!

I think you mean Holdom station. and yes eventually there will be a Skyline from Gilmore all the way to Holdom (15-20 years). and then all the way to Sperling 30 years from now.

I meant both(Holdom & Sperling) actually! I was being vague about the timeline but totally agree. The pace of change in Burnaby is truly amazing.

Thanks for these! Seems like the rental portion is indeed the podium.

The plaza between the building is looking more and more like a potential surface parking lot to me though ...

From a design perspective I enjoy this proposal but from an urbanism standpoint i have qualms about it.
