Yeah, I already had that site plan saved from May of 2020 according to the dates with the PDF file.

The fact that the issued permit says 63-stories gave me some hope that that was the approved site plan - until I saw the dates on it. Now I'm thinking that the building permit may not have been updated from the original floor count.

Yes. That's the original design. 59 levels of occupied space + 4 levels of mechanical at the top (levels 61-63).

The new design calls for 63 levels of occupied floors (according to this document).

Maiko Sushi’s last day of service is October 27th. Sounds like we may get started on this soon!

Someone previously said that they would be moving to another location downtown, but that appears to not be the case. Unfortunately, the closure will be permanent:

Disappointing quote from the article:

Quote:
Chen-Mehta says she and her family had been “hoping they would be building retail in the new high-rise, but that is not the case,” and says there are no current plans to reopen Maiko in a new location, though Austinites can always hold out hope.
I'm holding out hope for both their re-emergence and for the inclusion of ground-level retail space.

I wouldn't bet that she really knows. It could just be that they didn't make any space available to Maiko. Previously, there was going to be a bank branch on the ground floor. I'm not sure that's still the case, but I would surprised if they have completely removed that space.

To be fair, a bank branch is about as close as you can get to "no retail space" without actually having none...

It may not be too long. A link to the "Approved plans" was added to the approved & released site plan today. But the file isn't available yet.

For whatever reason, the City sometimes attaches a jsp file with no data before attaching the actual file.

The approved and released elevations were finally added to the approved site plan. The floor count and height remained as originally planned at 63-stories and 774'. The approved building permit stated this was 63-stories, and we thought that might be a typo. But it matches the elevations. The approved site plan and elevations are dated 10/27/2021.

That means the approved elevations (and building permit) are incorrect then. I'm going with the FAA highest point at 675' for the building height.

Make sure the base elevation isn’t 100 first. That sometimes happens for whatever reason.

Using that logic, why don't you post the height of 98 Red River as 1,034'? That was the height filed with the FAA, correct?

At 675', this is not a 63 story tower. More like 53.

This is different than other projects because the developer previously announced that it was cut to 58-stories which roughly matches 675'. The permit is probably referring to the original project by mistake, and I think the city released the old elevations as the new ones. Despite the 10/27/2021 approval stamp on the elevations, they also have the original 2019 date. I think the chances of several FAA permits being wrong compared to the City making a mistake is unlikely.
