Also I like this music a lot more than the generic edgy electronic crap that usually goes along with the drone videos.

A few image captures of the that great Griffintown video. On the last 4 images you can clearly see the path of the REM.

Vancouver's skyline is about to expand in a major way. The next phase of planning was released today for the Broadway Corridor. Towers of 30 to 40 stories will be built in the immediate area around the subway stations, with towers of 20 to 30 stories in the space in between. Even in the low rise apartment areas, there will be towers of 20 to 25 stories.

Work at Pinecrest Creek for Stage 2 of the O-Train with skyline view. We can see about 10 km worth of towers.

From City of Ottawa Stage 2 update.

Maybe your phone/device speakers are crapping out? The audio is crystal clear and perfect to my ears.

Interesting presentation - seems like the natural evolution for the area. But disappointed not to see dedicated bike lanes on Broadway. I know they're trying to accommodate a lot there, including wider sidewalks. Is this a common trade-off in planning- wider sidewalks vs proper bike lanes? Pros and cons for each depending on the location I guess. Also interesting to see the affordability calculations - jeez, does everything need to be 25 to 50 storeys?

Haven't watched the Broadway video yet, but might they consider building bike lanes on a parallel street? That's what Ottawa will be doing for Rideau Street, with bike lanes on Besserer one block south.

Vancouver has been doing the parallel street thing for ages, I remember riding on bike lanes parallel to Broadway and 4th like 20+ years ago. The grid in Kitsilano lends itself to that.

Yeah, the video goes into detail on that, and lots of cross streets which will be bike friendly. Just feels like a bit of a loss if we can't plan for dedicated bike lanes in a 30 year plan, but likely not realistic at this stage.

10th Ave, one block off of Broadway, is a car-light road and major east-west bike route.

I would say the opposite. Montreal has an appropriate skyline for a city of its size (just under 2M). Toronto, on the other hand, looks from many angles like a city of 10M not 6M. Calgary is the same as its skyline is crazy for a city just over 1M.
