I never said anything about a cheerleading forum. It just seems there are a lot of posters who bitch and complain about almost everything that gets built here or who's building it.

Anyway, back to your regularly scheduled programming.

I don’t mind the look of the proposed Tim Horton’s. Definitely is a higher level design compared to other fast food locations/brands. I continue to hold my breath for a first Cinnabon Franchised Regina location.

Genuine question/point of curiosity: how many Tim Hortons are there in the city? 20? Someone do the hard work for me.

We had one back in the early 90s in the Galleria.....not sure if it lasted much more than a year or so.

I think it lasted closer to 3-5 years.

That sounds about right. It wasn't the last business to close in the Galleria, but there weren't too many places left open when Cinnabon closed. My brother and I went there every Saturday morning for a few years, and I jokingly said "I wonder what has closed this time?". Sadly, this time it was Cinnabon.

Whyyyyyy!!! Lol so sad, Cinnabon is so good. My brother worked at the former St Cinnamon at the Southland Mall (where Booster Juice now is) and the ladies that ran it apparently were MEAN.

This frustrates the hell out of me. The mixed-use zoning was killed further North on Chuka as well. There was a chance to build some density along Chuka with mixed use close to the road and enhanced transit capacity and walkability, but all they want to do is make the Greens just like every other suburb in North America.

Tim Hortons is winning that battle easily.

Always been surprised the Cornwall Centre or Scarth Street doesn’t have a McDonald’s.

There used to be a McDonald's right on 11th right there.

Many things. I believe it was a record/CD store at one point, Havik, and now H&M.

Some guy in a car was lost behind the barriers on the walking mall / car driveway that is 12th Avenue in front of Victoria Park. There's no barrier just around the corner at Scarth Street so you could technically just drive in there. I've seen three cars in the last three months lost like that. Then there are those that come out of the back alley and turn East towards Broad Street and get to go through a controlled intersection with no light facing them because they are going the wrong way. I've seen that four times in the last month. Defensible design seems to be lost on our city. My guess is that lost car will be heading out that way at some point. Or maybe just drive up to the Cenotaph for lunch.

Bank, McDonald's, local Greek fast food restaurant, Havik H&M. No record store.

30. IMPERIAL BANK OF CANADA/CANADIAN
IMPERIAL BANK OF COMMERCE
1775 SCARTH STREET
This 1911/12 building is located on the
approximate site of Regina's first town hall, which
stood here from 1886 to 1906. The Imperial Bank of
Canada later merged with the Canadian Bank of
Commerce to form the Canadian Imperial Bank of
Commerce. The Toronto firm of Darling & Pearson
designed it. The walls are faced with Tyndall stone
and feature a denticulate cornice. The corner
windows on the main floor are topped with
pediment hoods, while the other windows and the
Scarth Street entrance have flat hoods supported
by brackets. The Scarth Street entrance is further
articulated with flanking, recessed pilasters. This
property has been on the Regina Heritage Holding
Bylaw List since 1989. It was the recipient of a
1984 Municipal Heritage Award in the Exterior
Restoration category.

Thanks. I am probably misremembering, but I seem to recall that around 1987-1989 timeframe. Although that might have been McDonald's then.

Does the A&W in the Cornwall have some kind of exclusivity on burgers? It's always been wild to me they have a monopoly in the downtown core.

Jeez my memory fails me. A search of LP ads shows that CD Plus was there in 2000.

LP search indicates CIBC was still there in 1988. McDonalds was there from at least 1996-1998. Cornwall Cafe in 1999.

I don’t think it was there very long. I remember it being a dollar store/gift shop when I was in school. It was at some point between the CD Plus and Havik. I don’t remember what year Havik moved in there but I feel like I was in high school so maybe mid-2000s?
