Looks nice, though something about it seems a bit dated (perhaps it's the green-hued glass). The best part of this development will definitely be how it activates the street and draw people with its retail. Looking forward to the Loblaws and food hall!

Saw those "blue dots" around the Canada Office Crest/Emblem illuminated last night on the way back from work. Looking good!

Hopefully the LEDs can colour change.
Blue doesn't really relate to the colour palette of the building.

Those inset squares were always blue. The lighting is just a small white strip (presumably LED). They're unlikely to alter a heritage feature.

Not dumb, but also not likely. They opened a new Canada Post office a block to the west when they closed this building down. It only operates Monday to Friday, but there are other postal outlets around including in London Drugs two blocks to the west that also opens on Saturday.

Wouldn't that be an idea eh, a new Flagship Canada Post location in this historic made-new again building. Maybe have a few design elements nodding back to its history.
I don't see it happening though.

you don'tthink that new location they opened was temporary until The Post is done? i would like to think they could have negotiated a free life-time lease for a post office location from the building as part of the land deal.

that's what i would have done.

Then they wouldn't have paid as much for the land. There's no free deals. I don't think Canada Post is known for opening flagship locations so they can sell stamps.

i have a hard time believing the developer would have said no to the massive piece of downtown Vancouver CBD land because they have to give a little bit of space in the 1.0m+ sqft development. i am sure many office people would get packages shipped there for easy pick up with the porch pirate thing. i know many people that use the post office for package delivery.

i don't believe that for a second. maybe if this was Regina that would fly.

Well Canada Post wanted to get the most money for the land so they sold it. There's nothing except for some sentimental reasons to keep a post office retail store in that building. Not to mention the fact they opened a new retail store 100m away from the old one.

Also, a post office is more recognizable and easily accessible directly from the street, rather than through a mall.
