Ah yes you’re correct, with the zoom on my phone screen the mesh is apparent.

Makes sense.

Seems like the sun comes through very well. Looking at the shadows in those pictures. There isn't much difference between the glass and the EFTE.

This really is a great addition to Winnipeg. Before, I've always hesitated to recommend Assiniboine Park to visitors to the city. Yeah, it's nice and all but it's quite out of the way, and we have other green spaces closer to downtown. The zoo is there, yes but... zoo's aren't got everyone. But once this is complete it will be an easy recommendation.

Yes, it does create a bit of critical mass there... between the gardens, the improved zoo and the other interesting spaces, you could spend a good chunk of a day exploring the park.

I'm curious as to what the Assiniboine Park Conservancy is planning for its next big project.

Hopefully an aquarium in the southwest corner of the zoo. There is all that empty land there just waiting to be utilized. Perhaps, not coincidentally, the stingray building happens to border this empty plot of land. The first piece to a potential water-themed expansion?

While I don't expect it, I'd be over the moon to add an aquarium to Winnipeg. Vancouver's is spectacular... less the whale component. That has to go, if it is not already gone.

Yes, no whales, dolphins...probably no walruses and seals. Perhaps they can build something similar in size to Quebec City's aquarium on the available land at the zoo?

It's disappointing that it has taken longer than originally estimated, but it's great to see progress on this.

I am guessing there are a number of film makers champing at the bit to use The Leaf as a location for some of their future projects.

article in FreePress talks about how expensive it will be. I'm not sure what to think, seems up there but I believe I paid similar to see places in Victoria, Seattle, etc.

Assiniboine Park Conservancy has announced the following admission rates for the Leaf. GST is not included.

Gate rate
• Adults (18-59): $15.50
• Seniors (60-plus): $13.50
• Students (with a valid student ID): $13.50
• Children: (Three to 17): $8.50
• Children aged two and under: Free

Online rate
• Adults (18-59): $15
• Seniors (60-plus) $13
• Students (with a valid student ID): $13
• Children: (Three to 17): $8.25
• Children aged two and under: Free

This article gets written every time something opens in Winnipeg. I just paid $20 to visit the National Gallery of Canada. $15 is reasonable. Further they’ll probably do a free night on the first Thursday of the month or something like that.

Agreed. Although as you point out, it might be a nice touch to offer a "discount day" or a family package or a season membership to make it a bit more accessible.
