I actually agree with BD far more than I let on. But, he so often frames his views in the most abrasive or contrarian manner possible that I am not surprised that readers of an internet forum take the worst meaning from his words.

Some interesting second hand information I received. The Regina Armouries has had issues for years, but the construction of the stadium sped up foundation and building cracking issues to the point that it may not be salvageable. Work is being done to determine how fast it is moving, if too fast it might be toast.

Supposedly the weight of the stadium impacted ground water and caused foundation issues for buildlings in that area. Again second hand information on this. However, I can confirm first hand the building is cracking and needing regular fixes. And that this has sped up greatly the past few years.

While I could see it being possible, I feel like it could also be a good excuse to replace a building. It would be a shame to lose the building as it's one of the few heritage building with value in the city.

Being linked to the stadium, yes possible but I can't confirm like I can the accelerating foundation issues. And yes, I agree with you. It is a historical building for Regina. I would really hate to see it go. I also think you could be right that the issues could be an excuse to get rid of an expensive to maintain building.

If that were the case what it would be replaced with would be.... well I have some guesses what would happen, but just guesses.

I agree that seeing the Armoury go would be another black eye on the city.
Built in 1926, it needs major structural work to keep it viable.

HMCS QUEEN the Naval Reserve building in Wascana Park is also suffering from structural issues. Built in 1954.

Damn you Dewdney! Forcing the CPR to put their station on this bloody gumbo. Cripes if they had built the city just 10 miles to the north there wouldn't be these issues we are facing today!

Celebrating Regina’s good is purpose of new website

“I think for anyone who lives in and around Regina, we want to remind them and invite them to re-introduce themselves to our city.” Shepherd says. “For everyone outside of the city, we want them to know how great Regina is and how many great things we have here.”

Regina executive committee denies funding for study into baseball stadium

Not sad to see exec council shoot this down. I think it's overkill.

Ball group asked for $100,000. They wanted City Council to put up 100% of the capital for the study.

Not surprised it got killed.

Exactly. Bob Hawkins (I think that's the councelor) said we're not paying for a feasibility study. You come back to us with a feasibility study, and we'll re examine it then.

Quality Hotel becoming Courtyard Marriott in 2022. Happy to see some rejuvenation for this downtown hotel property.

That's interesting news. I'm not sure what level a Courtyard Marriott is, but I am sure they will need to do extensive interior reno's. I remember when it was the 4-storey Westward. Nice to see that picture of it!

Has the sidewalk in front of the Sask Power building been poured yet? I remember someone saying they were waiting for some of the construction to happen at the Sask Power head office to happen before that section of the beautification project side walk was completed.

Not yet. But it has taken the city 4 months to complete one stretch of sidewalk from 12th ave to Victoria Ave on Scarth in front of O'hanlons.
