My parents in Ukraine got Chinese vaccine, so that is not only China but also lot of other third world countries and developing countries. Do you have any references to show that their vaccines are doing poor? Canada can’t ban 1/2 of the world to come here. I’m also in the process of applying my parents to come visit here and they still considered to be fully vaccinated with a clause “vaccine not approved in Canada”. This whole situation with not approved vaccines is really frustrating to me.

I am just refering to the poor efficacy rate of 50% in preventing a COVID infection. That will mean that several hundred million Chinese can still catch and spread COVID, which may be problematic for being approved here. It seems to work well in preventing hospitalisations.

I know about the challenges of traveling right now but didn't know there could be exception categories like you mention. Even for a fully Pfizer/Moderna vaccinated people to fly it is cumbersome with the rules and paperwork one has to produce. We have also had family members visit recently and getting to Canada is way more stricter that flying back to EU.

Should be cargo-only flight. The only routes CZ is allowed right now is CAN-YVR/YYZ, and they can run at most 1x weekly from the two route combined, with the minimum frequency of 1x weekly for any route.

======================================

On an unrelated note, AC had recently removed YVR-KIX for the S22 season. The route might be permanently cancelled.

Isn't QF going to start year-round scheduled service already? Flights starting in December appear to be year-round?

Vietnam Airlines will be a tough sell to most places in NA, the only chgance YVR has is if they plan to route all their feeder traffic through here, but there probably isn't much incentive for that since most places already have a one-connection option (via HND, HKG, TPE, etc.). I don't think YYZ has more of a chance than us though, if they came to Canada I bet it would be YVR, but ya unfortunately I don't see that being too likely in the near term anyways.

Not sure where the next destination would be, potentially somewhere like GDL would work. There's a large Mexico-YVR demand, and GDL could be served on a small aircraft, I could see that being possible.

So is that why they suspended passenger services to YVR ? Do you have any idea when these restrictions could be lifted and see the return of pax flights ?

======================================

That's a bummer and quite unfortunate as they were planning on adding an addition flight and use the 789 on selected flights.

That reminds me but what is the status on TPE. Is that another permanently cut destination alongside with Melbourne ?

Not sure about MEL... since it's winter seasonal, so we won't know until the winter schedule is out. Both MEL and AKL were scheduled a few months ago for this winter until the routes are removed one by one, so I assume they are still scheduled... for now.

Routes that are not coming back for next summer:

AC: CDG, KIX, TPE
TS: LGW, MAN, AMS, CUN, PVR
F8: YXS, YMM, YQR

New routes currently scheduled for summer:

AC: YHZ
F8: LAS, BUR

AC intended to run SNA year-round, but currently not available for booking next summer.

Restrictions on International Passengers flights are lifted,but its still limited due to passengers demand is still Not Great!

It's just Entry restrictions for most countries around the World is different currently for the Coronavirus Pandemic - Example: China plans to keep its restrictions on International flights ✈️until 2022. https://www.bnnbloomberg.ca/china-restri...nal-flights-could-last-to-2022-1.1647122

Interesting, but things could still change as next years Summer schedule is still not yet finalized and with pandemic/ travel demand still not great. All Airlines ✈️ updating its schedules 1 or 2 months at a time,which means some cuts are still possible.

Not too surprised by Air Canada cut Vancouver-Paris France flights for next Summer as Air France (AF) has lock on this route. Plus AC Vancouver- Paris flights must of been losing some passengers to WestJet's (WS) Calgary-Paris seasonal Summer routing the past few years too in Western Canada.

Add AI to the growing list of regular flights as flights to DEL resume.

The ban on flights from India has been lifted.

The first Air India 77W is currently on its way back to DEL from YVR. Flights will operate three times weekly.

AC has resumed daily 789 YVR-DEL flights as well.

I wonder if Air India will see more than 3x weekly flights to Vancouver or is there a frequency cap on this route.

==============================

Lufthansa's Munich - Vancouver route got extended yet again, this till operating till March 26th, 2022 from January 16th, 2022. 3x weekly using the A359.

Yes Air India Vancouver-Delhi India flights ✈️are capped a 3x weekly currently by Canada& India Air bilateral agreements. AI has it’s schedule updated to end of March 2022 .

Interesting Lufthansa Vancouver- Munich Germany flights are year round from Western Canada. There must be enough passengers & cargo demand to make it work.

I would not be surprised *if* WestJet (WS) starts up Summer Seasonal Calgary- Munich Germany flights from Western Canada using its 787’s up to 2-3 weekly to compete with Lufthansa on it eventually. WestJet doesn’t have Germany flights yet, but Munich is more likely for them rather than competing with Air Canada on Calgary-Frankfurt routing.

So is Air India's YVR flight to end in March 2022 or is the current schedule updated up until March 2022.

I saw your post in the Canadian Airport Thread and I will have to agree with the replies on there about Westjet starting up a YYC-MUC route.

=========================

Air Tahiti Nui will be continuing to use YVR as a fuel stop till mid November 2021. I'm gonna take a wild guess that Air France will be following suit as well.

AC finally launched its new route to SNA this morning.
AC 598 operating 4 times per week on 223s.

Westjet resumed YVR-SNA yesterday twice weekly.

Just flew into YVR from YYZ and landed on the north runway. While taxiing back to the domestic side, I'm pretty sure I saw some planes parked at the new international expansion gates.

Couldn't get a good look as unfortunately I was on the wrong side of the plane. Do we know if they're already using the new gates? Maybe for cargo operations or just for overnight parking?

I think Pier D remains closed to minimize terminal operating cost. D58 is the only gate in that expansion area that is in use. AC8 from ICN will arrive at the gate tomorrow morning.

travel will never fully recover until countries drop the 72 hour pre-departure test requirement. it's costly, it's a hassle and it's still risky. you could be fully vaccinated, perfectly fine, but if that test says you're carrying the virus, you're screwed and stuck in whatever country you're in.

evidence is the land border. it's been open almost 2 months to americans and very few are coming over. i live next to the douglas crossing and other then trucks it's still desolate.

so i guess airlines, airports, travel related business's and border towns will eventually have to start lobbying the government to ditch that restriction. if they don't, kiss travel goodbye. either they believe in the vaccines or they don't.

Well Vaccination,testing requirements & or quarantine won't be going away anytime soon, as the Coronavirus Covid Travel measures are likely going to be around 5-10 years or possibly long term - Canada citynews article https://www.660citynews.com/2021/08/24/canada-covid-travel-requirements/
