Steel probably won't affect these towers as they will most likely be built in post-tensioned concrete.

The Basics: 4 floors. 41 feet tall. 66 residential units - 64 studio apartments and 2 live/work units that will provide some groundfloor business spaces.

Project Description (from developer)
The proposed Studios Squared project is a four-story multi-family building consisting of 64 studio apartments and two Live/Work units.
There is a loading and trash collection area at the back of the building. While no vehicle parking is provided, there is ample indoor secured bicycle parking. A Social room amenity is provided at the ground floor for residents. The footprint of the building and units within are square in shape. The Existing use of the site is currently a paved surface parking lot.

Thank you Blah Amazing! I appreciate everything you are able to add to this blog. Quick question since you seem to be aware of most of the projects in the city. There was a proposed project for the southwest corner of 900 E and 400 S (Office Depot lot). Does anyone know if anything is still happening with that project?

The project was approved with conditions in January. After searching, I haven't seen anything else related to the project having been filed since. It's likely they are just stuck due to delays and shortages like a lot of other projects.

Personally, I'd say this project is still very likely, but I'm not in any privileged position to say for certain.

Looks are subjective, but to me it looks half baked. If some of the concrete sections weren't so prominent and discolored it would have been far more acceptable. Maybe it will grow on me, I'm just glad none of the other towers being built or proposed are taking this route.

I appreciate the juxtaposition of the unfinished concrete look with the finished look and beautiful lines that form the glass sections. If they gave the concrete a more finished look I wouldn't mind either - I'm not a hater either way.

I may have missed it but is there a cost estimate for putting the tracks under ground? In the long run I think it would be worth the effort. I would think there could be federal funding available for this as well but not sure. Excellent work though Hatman. Very creative solution

I am 100% on board with this

This has me thinking. If UTA does decide to abandon the gondola system up the canyon for an enhanced bus system, the savings from that could allow them to develop and focus on this instead. As much as I like the canyon gondola idea, I think the Rio Grande Plan will have a much larger impact on the community and would be a better use of government funds. IMO.
