Edmonton Oilers defenceman Duncan Keith will miss the first week of training camp as he travels home to the U.S. to get a COVID-19 vaccine. Josh Archibald is the only unvaccinated player on the Oilers roster. GM Ken Holland hasn’t decided on whether to keep him in the lineup yet. Meanwhile, goaltender Alex Stalock is likely to miss out on the season due to a possible heart condition.

Unfricken believable "GM Ken Holland hasn’t decided on whether to keep him in the lineup yet." The answer is NO and Holland ought to GO if he won't make that happen. Dear Mr. Katz please fire the imbecile.

Duncan Keith needs a calendar - Josh Archibald needs a dose of common sense - Alex Stalock needs a heart and Ken Holland needs a pair

Meh, we can find another Archibald in the minors. It's not like Draisaitl or McDavid are currently unvaccinated.

Archibald has chosen the “i” in Covid over no I in team.

Actions have consequences

You have to somewhat admire their conviction to give up their lives or livelihoods for something they strongly believe in.

Sure, giving up some of that 1.5 mill you're set to make this year that some of us will never see in the total time we work for our lives makes sense, I guess.

^ makes no sense - either you admire his decision or don't. The money is a consequence of this decision.

That's untested technology, and they'll track your progress when you get on board. He'll feel more comfortable in a horse and buggy.

If being vaccinated does not stop you from spreading the vid, what risk is Josh to the organization?

That's actually not true, many people misunderstand this due to poor communication.

for the same reasons that anyone who is not vaccinated increases the risk to themselves, to their families, to their coworkers and to the general population.

why would anyone think that those same things that apply to all of us don't apply to hockey players?

there is no difference between a hockey player, a restaurant patron, a doctor or you or me. get vaccinated or stay home.

what's the risk to the organization? increased likelihood of spread to team mates and others in the organization and their families.

taking a roster spot and not being able to support that roster for 1/3 or more of their schedule.

taking cap room that would be better spent acquiring a player who can commit full-time and not just part-time.

increased health insurance costs.

the potential negative publicity costs - how does the story "team player allowed to be unvaccinated contracts covid and dies" play with you?

2 great players.... Check

2 Horrible Goal tenders....Check

A supporting cast that shows up every 3 to 4 games ....Check.

Equals.....another Fast elimination from the Playoffs lol.

Believe me...same ole same ole for the 2021/22 season.

There is a reason I gave up my Corporate season tickets after 20 years of support. I couldn't even give my tickets away on a game by game basis.

An incredibly fun day 1 with the most fun crowd I've been a part of in years. Love the format and continuous action.
