A few different angles. This building is quite the change for that corner. I'm excited to see more (re)development like this along Carling and other "Arterial Mainstreets" in the city.

I would be excited as well if 90% of new builds in this city weren't nearly the exact same building by the exact same architect with only subtle cosmetic and height differences.

I think in phases. Once this one is complete, Shoppers will move into the podium of the new building and they will demolish that end of the mall for the 2nd tower. The next phase will include the food court and central areas of the mall being demolished followed by the far end towards Island Park (I think in that order).

Yup and this one isn't even the tallest. Two 120m 36 floor buildings are already approved. They just gotta start building it.

Wonder when they'll start phase 2? Which seems to be a similar building to phase 1 on the site where the Shopper's Drug Mart is today..

The 2x 36fl ones are last phase.

I think Shoppers is suppose to move into the phase 1 building and only then could phase 2 start. They'll propably only start phase 2 if the market is right as well

I'd want to keep the food court and the whole indoor corridor-mall. But that's me wanting to avoid breaking something on the ice in the parking lot.

I think this one is turning out quite nicely. Lots of articulation on the facade. Moderate use of the ole charcoal brick. A nice amount of glass. Non-Claridge spec balconies. It's interesting that they choose the western or inward facing half for the all glass wrap around rather than the side facing downtown. Doesn't really change much I suppose.

I don't have any complaints on this one.

Thanks for the pics! I agree with your comments completely.
This one is turning out way better than crap going up along Scott Street for the last couple of years, and the cheapified Azure.

This building, and it's future phases, looks HUGE when viewed from the 417, or from certain portions of Baseline. The area around the Westgate is going to look like it's own little skyline soon...

Could become Ottawa's version of Toronto Midtown at Eglinton and Younge. Especially if Carling gets a surface Tramway one day just like the Eglinton crosstown

Looking pretty nice IMO. I really hope they do a good job with the surface level of all the buildings in this project as there is a real opportunity to make an urban "neighbourhood" here and not just towers in the park.

I'd say so far, so good on the urbanism front. The placement and design of this building are pretty much perfect. That said, the Royal Ottawa is such a disaster from an urban planning perspective that it will be a challenge to get anything approximating an urban neighourhood here in the short term.
