Charles Paine designed those unbuilt earlier versions of Harbour Centre (there are slight differences between the two illustrated in The Sun). They were designed in collaboration with Eng & Wright, who also worked with Webb, Zerada, Menkes, Housden & Partners who designed the version that was built, without his input. Charles also designed the Pender Building (soon to be replaced), Guinness Tower and Oceanic Tower. He's still alive, in his mid 90s.

Amazing thanks!! Remember it well as a kid although more like late 70's early 80's! Richmond Centre, the newer mall with The Bay, across the parking lot from Sears, was better, brighter and newer and had all the good stores like Bootlegger and Black Sheep, I'd love to see some pics of the interior of that mall, I remember it dimly lit with high-gloss brown tiles everywhere.

We always thought of the Richmond Square part as the crappy mall and most called it 'brighouse'.

Both malls went into decline when Lansdowne Park opened in '77.

Interesting West Vancouver had three sound stages in the 1980s at Panorama Studios near Folkestone Way.
