Additional commentary: Rosemary Barton is a piece of work.

I get why she has the opinions she does, but geez, you'd think she'd be able to kind of appear to be neutral as the host.

Put Ian Hanomansing in the host seat or something.

I think there's a bit of dysfunction when every party is simply bracing themselves for an election. The Opposition was poised for an election at the beginning of this year. They've got it out of the system. At least for another year or so. Should help with at least exiting the pandemic.

As I said last night, she was literally choked up talking about Maryam Monsef losing, and gave a passionate explanation as to why that was the case (humanitarian devotion to the Afghan situation during the first part of the campaign).

Ian Hanomansing is the best horse in the CBC's barn for sure. Did not know he had an NB connection.

I remember being very impressed with Barton in the past, must’ve been in interviews or something? I don’t recall.

Hanomansing’s voice is 10/10 and although he’s a little stiff, formal, and unrelatable, it’s nowhere as bad as Trudeau, Ben Mulroney, etc.

Of course, still partial to Cochrane. Glad to have an NLer in front of the camera up there for a change.

Very cool. I didn't know that history. I always thought it was cool that he's been on air in so many parts of Canada. I would love to see him host The National permanently.

Just looked him up and found out he has Indo-Trinidadian origins.

I listen to Radio-Canada a lot but Cross-Country Check-Up with him is one show I regularly switch over to CBC for.

I forget his name, but the guy in charge of the map from Newfoundland was fantastic. Definitely the highlight of the night for me.

The one thing I appreciated about Rosemary Barton is that she so clearly loves politics and is way more excited and into it than the others. It makes her more entertaining, even if she is so very obviously not a neutral party.

I actually didn't get why he wasn't a shoo-in to replace Peter Mansbridge when he retired.

Maybe it's just that he didn't want to move to Toronto?

I didn't realize he was the new host, I will have to give that program a second chance. I'm generally averse to call-in shows, but I simply couldn't stand the program with Rex Murphy towards the end of him hosting it.

I found the CBC crowd when I tuned into that channel almost painfully partisan last night. Compared to the other networks I watched anyway.

I don't think he had the profile when Mansbridge retired that he does now. Also Mansbridge had big shoes to fill. The more I find out about Ian Hanomansingh, the more I'm convinced be should be the successor to Peter Mansbridge.

Wasn't that the point? They literally had partisan analysts. Gerald Butts and Lisa Raitt were up there.
