O’toole’s “concession” speech was easily the best speech of his campaign. If the Conservatives dump him now they’d be stupid.

I consider that a win. JT held all the cards when the writ was dropped, and failed to deliver on it.

At the very least, JT is as much of a "loser" as O'Toole is.............
I'm quite sure that O'Toole will still be CPC leader in the next election given that his party got the most votes. He did attract more support outside the prairie provinces from what I can tell which is key.

As for Trudeau, it's difficult where to stay how things will go for him. The Liberals didn't lose anything and bought themselves some more time in government.

The Liberals have to contend with voter split every election, much more than the conservatives.

We have now reached the point that informal government coalition is the norm.

As a result, while the Conservatives have led the popular vote, overall progressive voters (Liberal, NDP, Green) far outnumber the right wing vote.

His only hope is to drag the Conservative party back to its 'Progressive Conservative' centrist roots. The days of the right wing Reform tax cutter movement are over as result of the pandemic. Shrinking government in a worldwide crises would have led to another 'Great Depression'.

There's a certain segment of NDP and Green voters that are mainly protest voters who will vote PPC if they see it as the best protest party. Last I checked, the PPC is at 14% in my Northeastern Ontario riding which is full of protest voters who usually would vote NDP.

Some very close results in Kitchener-Conestoga, Davenport, Spadina-Fort York, Berthier-Maskinonge, will be interesting how these turn out when all the polls are in and after the mail-in votes are counted tomorrow.

Of course ignored by the eastern media, the Liberals managed to pry 3 Metro Vancouver seats from the Conservatives, probably the greatest area of seat gain for the party.

I can’t believe we’re having to listen to someone as irrelevant nationally as Blanchet for longer than O’Toole!

I actually don't mind informal coalitions.

Also I get your point that this might actually be a best case scenario for the Tories.

There’s a bunch of young people running around downtown Calgary cheering about the liberal victory tonight. Oddly enough as we lost in Centre and Confederation, though it looks like we will take Skyview. Still very nice to see the excitement despite how ridiculous this election was from its inception.

It appears that the conservatives have lost four - liberal gain 2, NDP gain 1, NDP hold 1 - seats in Alberta, a pretty huge upset considering their identical standing to 2019, losing a considerable part of their support base in urban Alberta.

So delighted to see Burneeyayyyy get 🞵🞵🞵🞵🞵🞵🞵 SPANKED in his riding, and then hilariously partying in Saskatchewan because he thought there was no mask mandate, though there was I mean, was that worth $600 million? No, but it definitely rubs some soothing salve on the sting.

Edit: George Chahal confirmed elected in Calgary Skyview.

Bloc popular vote now higher than Liberal in Quebec. But Libs have 2 more seats.

Very few polls had the Bloc higher during the campaign.

The Bloc is never going to run a candidate outside of the Province of Quebec, unlike every other party. There’s no need to cover his speech nationally.
