Don't they still have the Platinum sales centre available to them (beside the Onyx site on Main W)

Probably appealing to the commuter crowd.

There were signs for a Hamilton condo at a few Lakeshore West GO stations a couple of years ago (for LJM in Stoney Creek)

Seems to be common. My partner noted her parents saw signs for KiWi all the way out by then in north Etobicoke. 1 Jarvis similarly was advertised to GTA buyers. Seems condo developers recognize it's not Hamiltonians buying these expensive new condo units downtown Hamilton. It's either investors or people from GTa looking for a starter home or to downsize or save some money selling their more expensive GTA home.

Looks like a decent build.

This image just makes me wish both King and Main were turned into 2 way streets, at least through the heart of downtown anyway. One of downtown Hamilton's biggest drawbacks.

They don’t have to be two way per se, just much narrower with actual sidewalks. Chop a lane off of them at least and we are talking a bit more.

East of downtown they need to be two way for sure though.

King will be two way one lane in each direction once they build the LRT.

Id like to see them both go two way. There are two major reasons.

1) Cycling through downtown can mean massive detours because of the one-ways. It's honestly the biggest reason why I think the cycling population isn't larger than it is here.

2) One day it would be nice to get two way bus service on Main because it would give LRT much more breathing room, and unfortunately if you live downtown, getting to and from King can take quite a while. We live around Barton Street, and getting to my buddy's house at Gage can take 35-40 minutes, of which only 18 minutes is on the bus because the fastest way to the bus is to walk a massive distance. Transferring isn't much better because it's so close that getting on a bus for 2 stops is kind of silly and transferring can take longer, and if you're not near a north/south bus route it can take longer to walk east or west just to get to a bus you'll have to transfer anyway. All to say, I bike instead because it's 18 minutes for me on a bike to his house.

Yea, Two waying main on the west end of downtown needs some interchange work with the 403 which is the main issue.

The City really needs to think holistically on what traffic patterns should be post-LRT, probably should initiate a full EA for it. It would likely be too political though so of course it won't happen.

You can have one way highway access on a two way street. Central Ottawa is awash with partial highway connections, despite many of those connections being to two way streets. It's less convenient, sure, but drivers can go a few hundred metres in a minute or two. If they really hate it, maybe they'll start taking the bus instead.

I hope they keep those trees on the left - they beautifully frame the house next door. He did such a beautiful job landscaping his property.

Could also make Dundurn the change-over point. It would require some complicated re-engineering depending on which directional flows are kept, especially if avoiding westbound Main St. lanes from running head-on into the eastbound ones.

A roundabout that prevents westbound flow beyond Dundurn could be an option too, if the city buys property on the corners.

The King/Dundurn reconfiguration is already cooked up for the LRT -- stations on the west side, with a single lane eastbound from Dundurn and westbound two through-lanes and a left turn from King to Dundurn.

the problem is how the interchanges are designed, there are merges on both sides of the street which prevents two-way traffic.

In order to two-way King and Main over the 403 you will have to completely reconstruct the interchange.

And that stretch of Main between the ramps and Dundurn probably has the most lane-changing of any city street. It is difficult (and dangerous) to cross that 5-lane roadway especially if the light at Dundurn is red. But many do it, either to make a left on Dundurn or enter the plaza, or turn right on Dundurn or get into position to do so at Locke.

Tossing in some street lights seems like it would cover the off ramp on the wrong side of Main fine. Slows the cars off the highway down faster so they don't zip through the city, which is a plus in my books. The on ramp on King's wrong side seems trickier, but... I'm sure you could come up with something cheaper than a total rebuilding.

Just start the 2 way action at dundurn. Don't bother with the overpasses over the 403 SIMPLE

Here is a radical idea totally close those interchanges people can get on and off at York or Longwood/Aberdeen/Main West.
