Great shots, so much potential for that area to come alive once Rossdale becomes developed with a couple of food/drink establishments...

I wonder if there's been any thought of making that hill area into an outdoor amphitheater of sorts?

Yes. A Rosedale amphitheatre is even shown next to the old brewery in an old city planning document from the 1980's. The one also projects an Old Towne Market in East Jasper Village... Make them so already!!!

Edmonton does need a real amphitheatre with simple but fixed seating and grass seating for at least 3500. Handrails for the elderly, wheel chair access for parts of it, bathrooms and possibly a partial fabric or some light weight rain canopy protection. Like this one: with 300 seats plus 3000 on the lawn. By the Muttart thank you.

So why not just do the bridges and go under. I know they had some reason not to but just do it regardless of someone’s opinion.

they do it this way to save a ton of money by not having to build and strip form work. our soil conditions are such that we can do this on natural rather than imported material and, if my memory is correct, it’s a technique that was either pioneered or highly refined here.

That's correct and shortsighted.

This, of any area, deserved full freeway treatment from the Whitemud to AHD.

They should have done it one bridge at a time rather than adding lanes due to budget constraints.

No thank you, we don't need a freeway cutting through the neighbourhood. This is what the neighbourhood wanted. What we need is a good/rapid public transportation along Terwillegar drive.

A freeway was always planned for this area to connect Whitemud to development south. Knowing this when you moved in seems a little odd that now you would object to this.

What do you mean "always"? 100 years ago? 1,000 years?

I moved here when the express way was approved.

Again, I don't think we need to cut the neighbourhood in half with a freeway for Windermere to get to Whitemud. We need rapid public transit, not a freeway.

Judging from the photo, the neighbourhood is already cut in half. Upgrading Terwillegar to a full freeway won't make that any worse. Not everyone who drives Terwillegar from AHD to Whitemud is necessarily commuting to downtown (which would be the only demographic that rapid public transit would cater to).
