Speaking of 30th STREET STATION!
Been wondering about the "skirt" around the station.
A major reconstruction is to take place?

Pretty sure Amtrak is planning on starting all of the station improvements by mid next year? Can't remember where I heard that though.

Yeah, that building in the image is also at 811 N 3rd (not 817-821 which is what the "article" is about). 817-821 did get a demo permit in Jan 2020 but I don't see any others that would indicate something has happened at the site.

I don't think any of the information in that "article" is factual.

There most definitely is a Commercial Building permit, applied for last year, but issued yesterday, according to eclipse (but which doesn't show in atlas for that same address). I have no idea what's up with the ongoing inconsistencies between atlas and the newer eclipse system.

There is still a narrow empty lot and a vacant 1 story commercial building on the lots north of this one. My guess is that perhaps this permit is for that project (which was presented at some point).

Hey all! I heard something going around about 50+ carriage homes going into what was a forest in maple glen P.A. But I haven't heard or seen anything of it myself, but a friend says they have gotten flyers for it. Anyone seen anything? They just cleared out the plot of land after the tornado removed most of the existing forest.
The site is across the street from the giant, where the tractor trailer flipped

But this permit is specifically for 48 dwelling units at 817-821 N 3rd St.

47-Unit, Mixed-Use Project Planned in Germantown

Aerial of the site:

Current site:

Quote:
The pipeline of new development planned in Germantown keeps growing. We’ve recently told you about several projects underway and in the predevelopment phases in this section of Philadelphia. We have a feeling that there will be many more to write about over the next few years and beyond. But today, we’ll add just one more to the list.

Developers are planning a 4-story building with 47 residential units and ground floor commercial space and a roof deck at 20 E. Armat Street in Germantown. Zoning permits were issued to reconfigure the lot lines and for the new building earlier this month.

The 53,634 CMX-2.5 parcel currently holds a nearly 13,000 square foot building that is used as a location for an educational and health facility along with a giant surface parking lot. The zoning permits mention nothing about the demolition of the existing building, so we assume that the new building will be constructed somewhere on the surface parking lot.

Rite Aid moving its headquarters away from central Pa

Rite Aid moving headquarters to Philadelphia. Interesting details within (remote approach), but great news for Philadelphia and the Navy Yard!

Great looking project and huge improvement! Hopefully not complaints from neighbors (maybe related to parking).

Agreed. Man do I hate that Rite Aid (the built form, not the business itself).

I hate to poach a corporation from another part of the state but these usually don't go Philadelphia's way.

Yes, it's a "remote" location but I guarantee you in a few years 100s of people will be working there. It's silly to think people (or corporations) will allow every employee to be 100% remote 100% of the time.

I mostly like, although BV is not my hood. I've been attending the zoom meeting and though they haven't come to the public comments portion yet, the accompanying text chat was was totally lit with the standard parking gripes, before the hosts shut the chat down after the Ori hate started to kick in. ;-)
