In the image above (from Thrive), the area in question corresponds to the cluster of orange buildings in the upper left of the site plan.

I think the most ideal place for a Northwest high school would be south of Ryan Street, west of Wheeler. A high school should actually be in the community it serves, no in the fringes of it like Moncton High.

I agree with you, but the city desperately wants to develop the vision lands, and I think this is where they will push the province to build it.

Speaking of Cabela Court, NB should stop letting stores name streets. SJ has a Depot Court, but at least Home Depot is 1) still there, and 2) still in NB. Stuff like Commerce, Enterprise, Consumers, etc. has to go.

If L.L. Bean comes to Moncton at any point in time, I think that the empty Cabela's building would be a great fit for them.

It would be, but the old Cabela's building is owned by Bass Pro Shops, and they would never lease or sell such a building to a competitor.

I voiced my opinion about Cabelas Court being a bad idea from Day 1. Plus, it is against city policy to name a street after a business on that street, for obvious reasons.
That being said, I wouldn't let the street name dictate whether I live there or not. Honestly I could hardly care less.
I am told the hotel across from the Kent on Harrisville Blvd. had their street named after their business, and then the hotel changed badges so that now they are the only building (I think) on a street that is named after their competition. (I have not personally checked if this is actually true but was told to me by a trusted person.)
It's just a dumb idea.

A fairly generic apartment building, but this continues the trend toward rapid densification of this portion of Mountain Road.

I have a feeling it will look nicer than you think. It's a low quality black & white render. A full colour rendering would have done better justice to this building.

Yeah there is a significant amount of brick in the building. It looks like it’ll be a pretty nice addition to the area.

Oh yes, I definitely didn’t think the building would be low quality, just not the 6 floor builds we have been seeing. So I was saying it’s not that exciting, but mainly because it’s a smaller build.

It's the Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott Moncton and is on Marriott Drive so no your trusted person is wrong. It's a Marriott on Marriott drive. But yes it is still idiotic.

I mean Trinity Drive is named after Trinity Development Company who developed that retail area. I agree though, why have the bylaw if you’re going to just keep making exceptions to it.

I'm not sure, but I think it's only a policy, not a bylaw. But you're right, why have the policy?
Also, to be fair, I believe the policy came after the Cabelas Court naming, maybe even because of it, but I could be mistaken on that too. I don't pay much attention to this sort of thing so the ol' memory is a bit fuzzy.

To be fair however, the size of the facility has been reduced, an eight foot opaque wooden fence is to be built, and a treed buffer of between 5-10 metres will be maintained between the facility and adjacent residential properties. This is probably satisfactory.

None of the adjacent landowners filed an objection, and the developer of the facility spoke well, no doubt influencing council's decision...........

The Shannex development off Worthington has been approved by Moncton city council.



According to 91.9 FM, the 40 lots on Worthington and Cardigan will be marketed to empty nesters and active retirees. The first phase will also include the 60 bed nursing home. Additional assisted living buildings will follow later.

The tower crane at 2265 Mountain Road has been removed.



So, obviously it isn't needed for the remainder of construction. We are now down to six tower cranes in the metro area.

I wonder if it will be redeployed elsewhere, like to "The Tides" in Riverview.
