Unlikely for Ottawa, as International flights✈️ will likely be mainly arriving/departing Toronto and Montreal airport’s in Eastern Canada. US flights will likely resume 1st for Ottawa Airport. Ottawa -Europe probably won’t resume until at least 2023.

For now, UA are now showing YOW-IAD as returning on 31OCT21. This is about 3 weeks later than earlier planned with 1x CRJ. YOW-ORD is now pushed back from late October to 16DEC21 showing 3x CRJ from the get-go...seems a little far-fetched to be starting at 3x. YOW-IAD also shows as suddenly jumping to 3x on 16DEC21 (and from 1x CRJ to 1x ERJ & 2x E70 no less), which seems to indicate the schedule is only non-dummy to 15DEC21.

I would agree that the post December 16 are just dummy schedules right now. But it does seem like YOW is lined up for a daily IAD flight to resume in two months. Otherwise, we would have noticed the IAD flight pushed back to 16DEC21 as well.

What's interesting is the flight they've kept is the one that departs YOW after 1900. Will that make the IAD Europe connection bank?

My guess is it is optimized for American's returning after traveling to Ottawa, now that fully vaccinated Americans can visit Canada without quarantining. Americans seem more willing to travel than Canadians currently.

I flew with Flair Airlines for the first time this weekend from Ottawa to Toronto and although I was a little worried with all the bad reviews on Tripadvisor it all went pretty well!

I flew out on Saturday morning and the plane seemed to be sold out, it was fully packed. The flight attendants were very professional and good looking

I had imagined them dressed up like a retail store employee but that wasn't the case.

I traveled light with just a personal item so my backpack and they didn't check the size. I was worried that I would be hassled for more money but other passengers had way bigger backpacks than I had and I didn't see anyone get asked to pay more at entry.

My flight back at 11pm from Toronto was delayed 1h but the Westjet flight that was docked at out Gate was delayed to leave so that might of been the cause not too sure. Even if we were late to leave the flight was only 36mins so I fell asleep and don't even remember anything haha.

For $108 taxes in I would for sure fly again!

Nice good news for Ottawa, Canada. Now it’s Ottawa area passengers that need to use it or if not it will be gone/cut.

At 16x weekly for winter 2021-22, that's about 1/2 the capacity they're flying vs winter 2022-23. They're definitely being prudent and also are not flying YOW-MIA this winter.

I haven't booked my flights down south for March break yet as I'm dreading the prices. Hopefully we will get a spot!

Sunwing set to resume Ottawa flights later this year

Sunwing Airlines has joined the growing list of carriers to announce they’re resuming service at Ottawa International Airport as the travel industry looks to pull itself out of its pandemic-fuelled slump.

The Toronto-based airline says it will start flying to 11 destinations in Cuba, Jamaica, Mexico and the Dominican Republic in November, with weekly flights running until March or April 2022. Sunwing suspended all flights to resorts in Mexico, Florida, the Caribbean and Central America in January before resuming service from some Canadian destinations last month. The airline also halted its operations between March and September last year.

Porter Airlines announced last month that it would restart its Ottawa service on Sept. 8, while Newfoundland-based PAL Airlines also began serving the capital in July after scuttling plans to launch its Ottawa routes in 2020 due to the pandemic.

Budget carrier Flair said it would start flying out of Ottawa’s airport this fall.

While the number of flights serving the city has picked up in recent weeks, air traffic is still down dramatically compared with pre-COVID levels.

As a result, the airport – which relies on improvement fees charged to passengers as well as terminal and landing fees, concession revenues and parking fees for most of its revenues – racked up a net loss of $51.2 million in 2020 and expects to incur an even bigger deficit this year.
