Austin grew slightly faster than Omaha, Nebraska between the 2010 and 2020 censuses.

The asian population increase is very interesting. How does this compare to other Texas cities? I know that Houston has a large asian population, but according to my quick search, it seems that they're only ~6% of the population.

That's very interesting in context with the "Austin is bleeding its African American population" story from a couple years ago.

It certainly seems to be more a case of relocation and displacement, but not loss.

But a smaller percentage of overall city of Austin population is African American.

Same with white and Hispanic. Everything but Asian lost share.

Austin is more diverse, not less. I call that a good thing.

I would not call Austin a diverse city with a low Black population. Although other races are losing population, Blacks are still a very tiny percentage of Austin. Of course Blacks are only 12% of the US population too. Diversity in my opinion means having close to the same percentage of people in all categories of race. There is very few diverse cities in the country.

Just stop this nonsense! Not everything has to be a perfect number! You don’t get to decide that Austin is not diverse based on one specific minority’s population. The fact is that Austin is not losing diversity. We are a growing city and becoming more diverse. THAT is a good thing.

From my perspective, it is not diverse. There is no diversity in other aspects as well. Radio stations are not diverse for one.

Everyone has a right to their own opinion. But instead of using national numbers for arguing purposes, how about just using Texas statistics?
White alone, percent 78.7%
Black or African American alone, percent 12.9%
American Indian and Alaska Native alone, percent 1.0%
Asian alone, percent 5.2%
Native Hawaiian and Other Pacific Islander alone, percent 0.1%
Two or More Races, percent 2.1%
Hispanic or Latino, percent 39.7%
White alone, not Hispanic or Latino, percent 41.2%
