They haven't announced anything new for BC:

https://corporate.sobeys.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/FreshCo-Western-Canada-Store-List-.pdf

From June:

Quote:
The expansion of the Company's discount business in the West began 26 months ago, and there are now 28 discount stores operating in Western Canada. All stores opened in the first year have improved their results since opening and in aggregate are performing better than the full-service store that they replaced. FreshCo stores opened in the second year are performing better than those opened in the first year. Newer stores are improving efficiencies at a faster rate than the early conversion stores as the business gains critical mass. The Company continues to expand its discount presence in the West with 12 stores in different stages of development and expects to have 40 stores open by the end of fiscal 2022. The net impact of building the discount presence in Western Canada has been relatively immaterial to total earnings, but EBITDA has improved compared to the full-service stores that were converted.

They haven't done jack for this city. Most days in the morning, the only cleaning crew I see when I walk to work are those from the DVBIA (Business Association) and non-profit organizations. You almost never see any CoV cleaning crew sweeping the streets and sidewalks. When the weather is nice, perhaps you can see a couple of cops riding their bikes on the streets (seen twice this year), but you never see cops on the beat patrolling downtown late at night. They just surf the net in their cop cars. Criminals are released once they are arrested and processed: a slap on the wrist. When the City does not enforce its own laws, criminals are emboldened, and that's why you see so many break-ins of local businesses.

This is a rather broken city I would say, and I'm really at a loss of words for what people here can do to change all that.

A security guard was stabbed at the Davie's Shopper's Drug Mart yesterday morning, and of course the criminal got away, and will possibly be forever on the loose.

Older news, but try proving National Post wrong.

Just like the guy who set fire to the New West Pier, only to be arrested, released, and then OD'ed himself to death. If he hadn't, he could just disappear.

Totally unrelated to the point at hand, but sure.

that location was always busy, it was handy when leaving the mall or arriving at the mall. Maybe they wanted to redo it to make it more of a pick up location, not that there was much seating inside it before.

I don't know why people are so fixated on that location when there's a bigger one in Station Square literally at the other end of the bus loop.

London Drugs Robson Street just got a makeover (July 16th) (so don't expect demolition of the building)
looks pretty typical to me...

Thom Browne looks set to open, and around the corner the former Blubird is leased. The former Starbucks at Scotia Theatre is also leased, so I believe almost all former Starbucks downtown have been leased. Starbucks on Granville, across from Nordstrom, is also again being renovated.
