Any election debates need to be held in a public forum - this was not a good look.

Many forums are held by non-profits and various interest groups such as the Chamber.

This is par for the course and commonplace.

I get that, but at least let the public know it's going on before the event and at least livestream it. The public deserves to know what mayoral and council candidates have to say in an open forum.

It's an election debate. In a democracy. Voters should demand it be public. Wasn't aware Edmonton has been moved to China.

I had a scheduled chat with Cheryll Watson today, which is open and available to anyone that you can book on her website. She was willing to discuss issues that I felt were pressing for the city and she provided well thought out responses backed by examples and anecdotes of what she has done. While she alluded to her lack of political background, I do not feel that that is a weakness given we have seen career politicians (Iveson, Nickel, for example) and what they have, or haven't accomplished.

I was quite satisfied with our chat, I encourage all to reach out regardless of if you support her or not just to hear her thoughts on matters important to you (see bottom of the link for appointment scheduling):

While I admire her ambition, I find she lacks a grand vision that makes me confused what are her true values. All I've seen so far are outdated copycat ideas from 1990s politicians.

Anne is thoughtful, intelligent and informed in her approach and would be an excellent councillor. She leans left, but understands balance.

Obviously Ben Henderson really doesn't care for his fellow Edmontonians and Albertans as Justin Trudeau has gone out of his way to cause significant damage to our way of life. With Trudeau's ethical record, anyone supporting him clearly doesn't have a moral compass. Absolutely pathetic Ben!

Considering the option, I'll take Trudeau over O'Tole (or, albeit unlikely, Singh) EVERY. SINGLE. TIME.
And it's not like any of the recent conservative governments (either provincial or federal) have done anything GOOD for Edmonton, anyways. With the very high probability that our next mayor will be a former cabinet minister of Trudeau's, having one (maybe two) Liberal MPs might end up being a good way of getting fed money funneled to Edmonton (I've given up on hoping that the United Calgary Party doing anything that will benefit Edmonton at the provincial level, anyway).

There are huge Mike Nickel signs at Chateau Lacombe and I see them here and there as well, mostly businesses. Should we be worried? What is he polling at right now?

The results of the first Leger poll conducted by Postmedia from July 22-26 were released last week and the results are as follows:

Sohi: 29% support
Mike Nickel: 10%
Kim Krushell: 5%
The rest: <5% each

43% of voters are undecided.
