On that same stretch, the old Caffe Sorrentino has been taken up by somebody with the brandname of "Stanhope Eatery & Bar." No idea what's on the offering but they don't have a chef yet lined up.

I would like to see some more developments by the outlet mall at eia. A keg would be nice along the canal there. Was supposed to be several places built along it and more hotels on the west side of it but the slower economy and Covid came into play.

Don’t forget Millet, Wetaskiwin, Devon, Calmar, Beaumont, Pigeon Lake and all points around and in between. The mall is doing ok even in these times, and Costco, well you know, always crazy busy. Going to be a lot more things coming.

La Boule closing on August 22nd. Unfortunate, as it was my favorite bakery. Might have to stock up and freeze their kouign amanns!

Very unfortunate and usually seemed quite busy. I hope they are just moving to a different location in the near future.

I wish La Boule was moving to a more visible presence on Whyte Ave because I'm always forgetting about them. However, the high lease rates on Whyte Ave likely kept them where they are.

They would do well somewhere like the new CRU in the Augustana on the corner there or 104st. We have a bakery desert Downtown and must rely on coffee shops et al. for a lot of those staples.

At the other end of the Mayfair, I hope another black hole is finally gone

The old BLVD space is finally undergoing renovation

For those of you bemoaning the lack of a downtown bakery, I think your wish has come true!
A bakery is opening in the old Backstreet Bistro.
That's a far better alternative than another 7-11.
You urbanistas damn well better support this bakery or else!

Just got back from Las Vegas to our home in Mexico. The last lunch we had was at the Earl of Sandwich in Planet Hollywood. It was an excellent sandwich running 7.99 US plus tax. They use oblong buns 7-8" in 7 with flour types and flavours so no bread slices. I have the 1762 roast beed. I did wander into Del Posto. It's Friday after work, but there was not a soul in the dining room nor on the patio. I think Del Posto is on their last legs.
