With the Westin Tempe wrapping up this summer, we should see Hilo Tempe begin construction shortly after. It's been in review for building permit for 3 months now and their lot is currently used for equipment for the Westin. Same goes for Omni!

I note 250 Rio has been submitted, however... it's the project on the old Pennysaver building. Excited to see that one come up if it's near its original renders.
Do we know this one? Can you share the original renderings?

It's an old proposal, I think it was for the block right next to the plot that was earmarked for the original Mirabella development. 12 office block with lots of glass fronting the lake, it looked nice but nothing too exciting.

250 Rio was not 12 story lakefront (that's the KDC project), it was initially proposed as a two tower project similar in scope to Tempe Depot but less visual parking, better design, and a lot more height.

I'd just wait for the DRC report to come out rather than speculate on what its final appearance is...it's been years since it's been proposed and google images is a wild goose chase for something that old.

This link shows all the developments ASU has in the pipeline for 2021, 2022, and 2023. The Omni hotel is in the 2023 pipeline which seems a long time from now.

Actually the start date is June 2021 and completion is for April 2023 so looks like construction will start this month.

Idk if anyone has seen this online but the Mirabella residents are trying to get Tempe to shut down Shady Park across the street due to the noise despite the fact the business was there first and has all of their permits for live entertainment. Who thought it would be a good idea to put a 55 year plus tower near the entrance to the Mill Ave District is beyond me...

We should all email city council to express our thoughts on this. Save Shady Park

Yep! Highly doubt that the new Mirabella residents realized how much push back they were going to receive. Figure out a solution to retain some of the noise, but Shady Park isn't going anywhere.

Was it their choice to live there? Yes. End of discussion. House whoever you want there, but if people decide to live next to a live music venue, that was your choice. Not the city or the venue’s fault they didn’t do their due diligence. It was specifically marketed to old people who still want to live life and have experiences, but then they are shocked living on a college campus, off one of the busiest streets in the metro area, next to a live music venue is loud?

Here are some interior renderings of the Omni Hotel I found that I hadn't seen before. The rooftop bar looks awesome, I can't wait to check that out once complete.

These parking podiums are so sad. I hope some day the city can partner with the building owners to eliminate on-street and surface parking downtown and replace it with something like a ride share model
