Banks and Killam have split the purchase of RioCan's shares, so Banks owns a 25 per cent stake alongside Killam's 75 per cent.
The deal closed last week.

"We're going to expand the centre and develop it in conjunction with the Sherwood Crossing development that we're doing to the back of the property," Banks said. "It's going to be a very hands-on approach to revitalizing the centre."

Banks said the branded stores that have long-term leases will remain in the mall. The developers plan to reposition the food court. And they plan to welcome new nationally-branded stores with local investment rather than run by head offices elsewhere.

Banks said the move is strategic, to better connect the mall and the exploding residential community around it as well as better connect with UPEI.

Another 51 lots to be added. I wonder how long before Charlottetown's present

Looks like you’re correct. Kent MacPhee, Managing Partner of Olde Dublin Pub, recently receive a permit to install a facia sign at 202 Buchanan Drive. We should see something happening there very soon.

I noticed yesterday that there is a new store open in the Kinlock mall. There is Taco Boyz and then a Dragon Feast Chinese restaurant beside there is a open sign and had a flag outside but had no large store sign up top. As you drive down the Bunberry road on the right looks like a new road for the subdivision behind Ducks Landing.

New $18M Simmons Sports Centre design good start, but room for improvement, residents say

CBC NEWS PEI

Public gets first peek of new new facility, which is expected to be complete by September 2022

The new $18-million Simmons Sports Centre will feature an NHL-size ice surface, new outdoor pool, walking track and multipurpose room.
It will also use state-of-the-art technology to make it much more energy efficient......

MORE HERE > https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/prince-edward-island/pei-simmons-sports-centre-design-1.6092517

It says, "There will be seating on the second level, as well a warming room with 100 seats." On the second level!! It sounds like we'll have the same issues seeing the ice surface fully as we have at the Eastlink Centre. I wonder!
There is also no mention of the full seating capacity, just the the warming room.
Anyone know the seating capacity?

It’s it’s the same St. Louis as they have in Moncton, it’s nice bar, and if it’s going in Stratford that’s a nice addition to the community!

Good question! The explanation may be that the city has always run this pool as a community "summer" pool which is always staffed by student life guards and attendants and they probably want to keep it that way. The request by the public was to add the roof so I guess there was no reason to enclose it as it would only be used as a summer pool. That's just my take on it.
Personally, I think it would be a good idea to enclose it but it all comes down to money I believe.

Yes, but the 2020 estimate of 80,347 number does not take into account the roughly 3500 individuals added in the new subdivisions for 2021.
My guess is the 2021 numbers for Charlottetown will be about 87,000.

City of Charlottetown could be set to become a little bigger

The Guardian

'Annexation into Marshfield would involve about 100 acres and include retail, commercial and recreational'

CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — The City of Charlottetown is in the process of increasing in size.
At its monthly meeting on July 12 council voted 7-3 in favour of asking the Island Regulatory and Appeals Commission (IRAC) to restructure the city’s boundaries to take in a portion of the unincorporated community of Marshfield.....
