Another new Apple Store opening today in a historic building, this time DTLA. I prefer these stores with prior history, as opposed to the new cookie cutter glass shoebox design. While I don't doubt the Pacific Centre store will have quality, it now seems dated before it has even been built (which I doubt was the intent). One also has to wonder what will become of this store after Apple eventually departs?

it is very nice. that's probably my favourite Apple Store i have seen so far.

but, it is hard for us to get an Apple Store like that when any of the old buildings we have are either still in use, or are on the DTES. we don't have the same options.

Yes, Apple took a long time to find an appropriate location and have pockets big enough to pretty much go anywhere. This is the best we’re going to get.

Sinclair Centre comes to mind but is off the beaten track.

The DTLA store is in less than the most desired location, so they are willing to venture outside of prime locations. I've also wondered what they could have done at the Sinclair Centre, including the now very dated interior courtyard, as just one better option.
It will also be interesting to see what they will come up for Oakridge, as it has been suggested it will be a flagship.

The current Vancouver Art Gallery space would be ideal. With their deep pockets, Apple could contribute a sizeable amount towards the new gallery.. then take over some/most/all of the old space.

That seems the most probable and logical outcome, yes. Personally, I find that rather dry. I'd love to see it become a conservatory of music, with (in a fantasy edition) a concert hall below it. Vancouver's music scene could use a large plasma injection, and what better place to have it than in the classy, snazzy, central Rattenbury building. That is asking too much I know.
