The average max in Hamilton on Dec. 12 is probably around 5C, so I guess that's no worse than when they have it on the Prairies in late November.

It's so variable here in November-December... who knows what will happen. There have been mid-December days that felt like they were right out of a really nice balmy autumn, and November snowstorms (e.g., Remembrance Day 2019). Last year it hit double digits on Dec 12. My birthday is early December and I recall several school-closing storms when I was a kid.

Last time Hamilton hosted (Nov 24, 1996) it was bitterly cold during Grey Cup week, then heavy wet snow set in on gameday.

Apparently the last Grey Cup to be held in December was also in Hamilton... Dec 3, 1972. Temperature was around the freezing point, but it was dry.

Can’t wait to watch the GC in the comfort of my home this years... I went to the previous 2 GC’s in Edmonton and Calgary... amazing times, wicked experiences. Hopefully full capacity by December too for another wicked GC.

Last time it was in Regina, it was -40 all week, then approaching 0° on game night. Really a crapshoot anywhere in this country (where it's played outdoors)... hoping for the best though.

2017 was awesome in Ottawa! It was just below 0 and snowing but people dressed for it and the atmosphere was amazing. I've never been more jealous than ridiculous-looking people wearing skidoo suits

That sounds amazing AuxTown. Any colder though, and things mightve been dicey for those athletes I'd think...or staff on the edge of the field.

That is nice.

Random question; doesn't a hotel or condo facing a sports field (Lansdowne in Ottawa is another example) a disincentive on the occupants to buy tickets to the game? Not meant to be criticism. I love the look and feel of these types of projects, just a question as a moderate sports fan.

Districts are 'where it's at' these days and the loss of that revenue is certainly offset by the residential play.

You'll have to forgive me if all I see is a hotel, a baseball stadium, and some parking spots.

Is there anything surrounding this property that encourages a walkable, pedestrian experience?

What baseball league are they aiming for with this?

Keep in mind that this is in a bedroom community next to Edmonton and quite a great looking start at something more mixed-use.

The Spruce Grove plan is really putting the 'build it and they will come' theory to the test. I assume that the stadium is going to be for really low level pro (like rookie or maybe at most A league) or amateur (WCBL or equivalent) use... doing all the MLB-style trappings like buildlings in the outfield of a suburban greenfield seems like a tough sell to me but I guess the developer knows what they're doing?!

That said, the stadium looks very nice and I'm sure it'll have a great atmosphere if it's fully built out as shown.

No, there is another team, Edmonton Riverhaws, in a different league (West Coast League) that is supposed to play there.

Strange. Seems like it would be a stretch to support 2 baseball teams. Also, I'm not sure that I'd like to live on the field-facing side of the condo. If someone gets a home run I might get a baseball in my cereal lol.

Haha... curious to see how that's addressed.
