I really feel bad for the guy. He loves the Theatre wants to save it, and I sympathize with that, but he is clearly unstable.

There might have been a way to save the Theatre but I really don't think this is it.

Pushed to July due to time constraints. A lot of time in the meeting was spent listening to a few members of the public rail against the RDA and the deal to demolish the theatre.

Ya, I listened to it. So annoying. Also, apparently, it's called PanTAGES theater. I wish the city would limit the time on public comments and keep it limited only to the topics on the agenda.

Just bought my first bike as an adult the other day because I noticed all the bike paths near my house. I've never lived somewhere with urban bike trails and it's a lot of fun, but I just wish there were more. Why doesn't the city turn all the unkept alley ways (I've come across tons of them in Sugarhouse/Liberty) into pedestrian/bike paths?

I also feel like the roads here would lend themselves really well to more protected bike lanes/separation from traffic. I imagine biking in Las Vegas is worse overall but they seem to be way more aggressive in putting down new bike infrastructure in the last few years... Definitely going to be paying more attention to bike initiatives here

He and others allege the sale was flawed, but city leaders stand by their decision to bring more housing to Main Street.

A last ditch effort that is roughly 2 years too late.

I also wanted to mention my recent attempts to improve SLC's presence on Wikipedia. Along with authoring and continuing to improve the new "Cityscape" section, I've recently created articles for the Hotel Newhouse and Salt Lake Theatre. I'm in the process of getting permission to upload a photo of the Newhouse. Feedback is appreciated!

Honestly this is just sad at this point. As if I needed more reason to think this was just desperation.

More details here. Apparently the U is already under contract to purchase land:





It appears also that UTA is building their new maintenance facility to the west. A large prefabbed concrete wall has gone up west of the railroad tracks.

I assume that this will allow UTA to consolidate their facilities, and will free up the land they are currently using on the NW corner of 200 S.

Hatman's design for this area would be the preferred vision in my opinion.

I would like to see the U do something cool there. It's just hard to get excited when regardless of what development happens that side of downtown is still going to be dominated by train tracks, highway ramps, and bridges... Even without Hatman's plan they seriously cannot be considering leaving central station the way it is, right? It's literally just an ugly, confusing parking lot.

I know I'm bias but the Rio Grande plan (or something remotely similar) just seems so obvious.

A new Townhouse project has filed a design review with the city in the Rose Park Neighborhood near the Jordan River.

750 North Redwood Road

Project Summary:
The project will be new construction on an currently empty lot with 82 single family attached townhomes. The total site is 2.27 acres and will have a density of 36.1 units / acre.

The project consists of 12 separate wood frame buildings. The exterior materials are brick veneer, cementious siding and stucco. In total there are eighty-two units consisting of 2 different types of units - Unit type 1 (41): 4 bedroom , 2.5 bath with 1,732 square feet of conditioned space. Unit type 2(29): 2 bedroom, 2.5 bath units with 1,432 square feet of conditioned space. Both units 1 and 2 each will have a covered second level balcony. Unit type 3(12): 2 bedroom, 2.5 bath units with 1,469 square feet of conditioned space.

The primary access to the units will be sidewalks from N Redwood Rd and the parking is accessed from N. Redwood Rd as well.
