Have you ever actually walked down Bathgate near the campuses? I am going to suggest they are going to be pushing to maintain a specific perimeter.
I went to La Cite for 8 years, so I'm quite familiar with the area.

If the time ever comes, that would have to be part of a conversation with the Feds. I'm pretty confident they would be fine with giving or selling a narrow 10 meter strip along Bathgate. That would still maintain a 100 meters buffer more or less with any buildings other than the CSEC parking garage. The existing high security fencing wouldn't even need to be moved.

The City could explore both options, Bathgate to Blair or continue down to Montreal station. Depending on potential ridership numbers and the Feds' willingness to provide that small strip of land, one option would win out over the other.

TBF, the Broadway subway is going to be quite a boring (no pun intended) project to watch only because most of it is actually below ground . It will honestly just look like a lot of — road work until they start shooting updates inside stations.

If they start on the Expo extension then that would be a project a little more visually exciting because it's all elevated and we can see the stations start to build up.

Stage 2 West progress, from Mayor Watson.

First two are Algonquin Station, the fifth and final underground station within the current expansion plans (pending STO/Feds' choice for the tramway integration in Ottawa). This will be the Line 1 terminus until the Stage 3 extension to Barrhaven. The tunnel will include storage tracks.

The third is the Parkway/Byron tunnel cut-and-cover tunnel, a three kilometer tunnel that will bridge the gap between Kitchi Sibi (formerly Dominion) and Lincoln Fields stations. It will include two new open-air stations.

EDIT: The fourth is Montreal Station.

New Orchard Station under what was a former streetcar line, later Byron Linear Park. The park will be restored once the tunnel is complete. The two stations in the park will be open air.

From O-Train Fans. As always, more images are available on the RailFans website.

Trillium Line Uplands Station, June 30. One of three stations on the airport link, it serves the EY Centre, Ottawa's trade show facility. The airport has recently put up adjacent land up for lease for additional development.

https://otrain.railfans.ca/snapshot-updates-2/snapshot-of-uplands-station-june-30-2021

Trillium Carleton Station, July 1. The busiest station on the original O-Train at Ottawa's second largest university. Little improvements other than a widened tunnel under the tracks and a new tunnel for future use (to Carleton's underground pedestrian network). The steel and stone O-Train bridge is being rehabilitated and a cycling/pedestrian bridge will be built next to it.

https://otrain.railfans.ca/snapshot-updates-2/snapshot-of-carleton-station-july-1-2021

Confederation East at Place d'Orleans, June 29. Currently the main bus station in Orleans, the current facilities will be mostly maintained, with the new rail station to be built in the median with entrances within the existing walkway, another on Champlain street and a third via a new fare-paid bridge. A fare gate entrance will also be added to the bus loop.

https://otrain.railfans.ca/snapshot-updates-2/snapshot-of-place-d-orleans-station-june-29-2021

Confederation West Pinecrest, June 30. A new box was built over the last year or so and slid into place over a few days to allow trains to go under Pinecrest Road. A trench will be built and the station on the lower, left.

Eginton Streetcar/LRT )Crosstown)

The old bus bay site at the main interchange station continues to be a hive of activity:

The main intersection for this project also remains...a mess and very busy with construction work:

I took these on Saturday by the NE corner of Don Mills and Eglinton, where Don Mills station is to be. They have a glass wall of a station entrance on the norh east corner..it's pretty ugly. The buildign pictured below is...better looking. These are taken looking west, then south:
West....on the left is one of the new station entrances for this station:
Crosstown Work by Draulerin Photographics, on Flickr
South(SW), the twin buildings in the distance are the tallest in this area, and the foreground is proposed to have tall residential buildings built by the corner of this intersection:

Looking east toward the highway...temporary pedestrian walkway replacing the former sidewalk

I took this last night...this may be a station entrnce, or an emergency exit....for Mt. Pleasant station. It's clad in steel and ceramic bricks, but I guess they'll put some concrete cladding on this over it.

Images from the City of Ottawa's 90-day lookahead newsletter: https://mailchi.mp/c0bb0af6a582/west-extension-public-notice?e=f37f60b514

First two images are of the cut-and-cover tunnel along the Byron Tramway Park, between Richmond Road (right) and Byron Avenue (left). Cleary looking west and Woodroffe looking west. Two open-air stations will be located along this tunnel, adding new rapid transit service to the area.

Lincoln Fields Station, coming out of the Parkway-Byron tunnel. This will be the last station before Lines 1 and 3 split and will feature three tracks, two platforms, washrooms and retail. Riders will be able to transfer between Lines 1 and 3 by crossing the centre platform anytime before midnight.

Edmonton's newest river valley stop 'Muttart' that will provide access to the Muttart Conservatory, Edmonton Queen Riverboat, trailhead for Millcreek, access to the Edmonton Ski Club and will be very helpful for major events like Folk Fest as it is a short walk away.

Edmonton Valley Line is looking great. Should be on track for the end of 2021 opening.

Sorry for flooding this thread with Ottawa, but there's just so much going on.

Progress at Montreal Station. Girders have nearly all been installed to accommodate two more traffic lanes, two sets of tracks and the centre platform.
