Masters excited by new pulp mill announcement for Regina
The news follows announcements this year from Viterra and Cargill to construct canola crushing plants in the Queen City. The mayor said Reginans should be incredibly proud that the city is going to lead in terms of agriculture value coming out of the COVID-19 pandemic.
I recall reading that a company had bought land at the Pinkie Road - TCH interchange with plans to build a truck stop there. Don't know if there has been any more information on that.
That would be an incredible money maker and a good spot for one.
Are we heading for a boom again? I honestly didn't see this coming but I guess the world needs to eat!
If we can get a good crop, look out. Canola is $20/bu. There could be a lot of cash sloshing around this province. Also oil has made a big comeback. If crop prices stay up, farmers in the U.S. and elsewhere will fertilize a lot more and potash prices will eventually follow. Hard to predict, but I would guess we have a good chance for another boom.

Big drought in the states right now which good be good for Canadian farmers but not for potash if they are looking to sell to the states. That was a very timely rain the prairies got but its going to be a close run thing if there isn't some rains over the next couple of months.

It looks and sounds great. I love outdoor pools and water parks in the summer. I hope they can look at something similar for year round in the near future though.
How does Regina’s pool capacity compare to other municipalities?
Regina has more outdoor pool on a per capita basis compared to other western Canadian cities.
Perhaps other western Canadian cities have realized that indoor pools just make more sense for our climate since they can be operated year-round?

It's definitely a dumb play. "Our land will be cheaper to service than the other things that will bring in more money and people." By that standard, a giant Impark lot would be the best approach.

Does anyone know, or care to guess, what percentage of the Railyard Lands this baseball stadium would occupy? Would there be much land left? Maybe enough for a Tim Horton's perhaps?

I think the Wascana Water Park is a ridiculous project that is going to increase vehicle traffic in the park and it's a big spend for 10 weeks a year. I think we'd have gotten a lot more from doing an indoor/year round project elsewhere.
The ball park is a waste as well. The city is not awash in money yet for more arenas/ballparks/etc.
