The St B ER Redevelopment will also be huge. It takes up a lot of frontage along Tache.

The 4 blue arrows bottom right of the image are the centre entrance of the new parkade and medical centre building above.

^ So the new ER and the new medical clinic really will be just across the street from each other. That will be a major improvement over how that stretch of Tache looks right now. There will still be holes to fill in, but this is a good start.

Oh wow I had no idea all that was happening, that's great to see. Someone should build a LTC tower across the street on an empty lot haha.

What's the timeline on this?

STB ER is in beginning stages of construction now. Lots of decanting going on. Main construction later this year. The Med centre building and parkade will hopefully start late this fall.

Oh wow, that's great. Will definitely have a big impact. Would love to see some trees and better streetscaping on that part of Tache.

Good call. It's amazing how Tache north of Dollard (by the main St. B entrance) is beautiful, but the moment you hit that intersection it's sheer hideousness all the way south to Marion. The difference is so stark... it would nice to see some effort made at improving it.

Glad to hear these are going to be moving along soon.

Goulet Place currently a dead end, makes sense to make it a entrance/exit for ER vehicles

Adds a slight bit of time if Emergency vehicles are being dispatched from St. B to calls on the south and east side of Winnipeg as they have to go west to the turnouts that feed the Dominion Center and then turn back east.

Thanks for Sharing Biff. That is a massive improvement to the area.

More info on the building here: https://capitalgrp.ca/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/Avenue-360-L.pdf

Two questions. For the ER expansion. Will the existing brick building along Tache be coming down? It looks like a relic from a bygone era. Although I hate to lose stuff like that.

Anything going on with the surface lot to the north of the existing parkade? They tore down the building that was on the corner and turned it into a parking lot.

The route for EMS vehicles is shown with red arrows on the plan -- they will be using Tache to enter and exit the hospital.

FarryEllice:

You are right, I was looking at the light red arrows which are loading dock circulation off of Goulet Place, I now see there are slightly darker red arrows (on my laptop) for EMS off of Tache which should be better for them.

^^^The Goulet Place vehicle access is for taking patients to the diagnostics buildings to the west of the ER (MRI etc). Patients from other area hospitals get transferred here for tests.

Unfortunately I believe that two storey brick building will come down. There is no point in keeping it if it were to be encapsulated in the newer structure.

I haven't heard anything to replace the new surface parking lot of the building that was torn down a couple years ago.

Thanks Biff.

I just noticed the red arrow along Tache at the north end of the new expansion. I couldn't understand the EMS circulation. So I guess they will drive inside that structure all the way from north to south. Which confirms that brick building will come down.

I also kind of like the drive under part of the 360 Tache building. Reminds me of the one on Ellice. I think of it as constructing a building over a road as opposed to putting a road through the building.

Assumed it will be a paid parkade. But will be nice to have the skywalk crossing Tache. I go to St. B frequently with the family, so is a nice perk.

It does seem to say "future skywalk" on the plan, though, which I interpret as meaning there's no current plan to build it?

They're separate things really. So I assume they just show it as future as the timeline for both projects could've been different.

Seeing as both buildings are going up at the same time, and the floor plan for 360 Tache shows where the skywalk connects to it, it would be built.

Would be stupid to come back later and carve out the brand new buildings to install the skywalk.

Or the walls can be structurally designed to have the skywalk go in thru bricked over openings at a later date if it gets deleted due to budget costs.

I think it is a lot easier to do it later if its roughed in than like downtown when all the skywalk attachments had to be hacked into place as none of the buildings had the same alignment on the 2nd floors or like the 266 Graham tower offices in the pathway that had to be moved out.

If they don't build the skywalk I'm sure it will be seen as French erasure since HSC has one and they'll have to do it anyway. /s

Ya of course. I just meant they're going to be spending $10's of millions on these buildings. Then open them up again later. Just do it the first time and it will be cheaper than doing it later.
