This was discussed in the april feedback sessions. This is their least favorite station configuration, but it is allows a narrower footprint. I expect to see more on north guadalupe near the university.

Yes, it is not an ideal configuration, because you have to duplicate the amenities on each platform. It is a very space efficient configuration, however, when you have limited ROW and heavy left turn volumes because the platforms sit in the 'shadow' of the left turn lanes.

So looking at all the extra construction needed for the SoCo line (tunnel under the lake, tunnel and underground station at Auditorium shores, etc.), what are the odds that it lags the north line for at least a few years (as I noted above in the thread, with Austin's funding structure delays like that _should_ be an economizing measure)?

I also wouldn't be surprised to see the Orange stop at 71 for a bit before the section to Stassney finishes. It would save them the cost of a station for a while, plus the headache of crossing Williamson Creek.

Obviously front load RoW acquisition to minimize eventual costs.

(this is all assuming the maintenance yard does end up off the Blue line somewhere).

Would all the lots they want to buy just south of the Williamson creek be big enough for a maintenance yard? I think they wanted 30 acres?

From TCAD, that whole section between Wasson and south of Mockingbird is only about 3 acres.

Even with the stuff north of Mockinbird, I don't think it's big enough. Plus I think a hunk of it is in the flood plain.

edit/add: honestly, now I'm starting to think that's what that stub in ABIA (by others) was about. Use some land in ABIA. Pretty good use for it (since it's height limited and development limited anyway). Most other places on the line, you'd be taking up land that could be better used (even eventually/long term) for denser higher development.

....wow that's a really good idea. The other thing I realized about the Blue line is it passes through what was going to be the new frontage road of 71. I'm guessing that project is off the table and they are assuming they are going to shift the whole highway north along the river to increase the amount of airport land. There is some land between the east runway and the prison that is earmarked for non-aeronftical development area.

The Park and Zoom is also designated as a future ground transportation Transit center. It's all the land inside 71, Pres Blvd, Spirit of Texas and Hotel Dr.

None of that stuff will affect you. Construction starts at the end of the year on the new Expo Rapid bus line but that's mostly bigger bus stations along Manor and 51st.

That sucks. I feel like Windsor Park and University Hills are quite neglected in terms of development, despite their proximity to downtown, Mueller and Domain.

I'm even further east than you are. You don't know what neglected is.

Also, the rapid bus is going to be really dope. I wish it had some bus only lanes in the mix but it is what it is and it ain't bad. If this line develops then the Manor/Loyola corridor is prime for HCT. I would prefer down MLK but MLK isn't a great corridor in terms of nearby development and some pretty insane slopes.
