I was posting an update using the same link but then I realized that the link stays the same so any previous posts would always show the latest picture and then we couldn't compare to see the progress being made.

So this one is a saved version:

How long before opening do we guess??

It doesn't seem like there's a ton of work outside of finishing the appraoches and tying it into the current roads. Maybe 4-5 months?

https://www2.gov.bc.ca/gov/content/trans...ojects/highway-1-lower-lynn-improvements

Status:

Mountain Highway Interchange: Construction started – Completed Fall 2019
Keith Road/Seymour Parkway Interchange: Construction started - Completion Fall 2021
Main Street/Dollarton Highway Interchange: Construction started - Construction Completion Fall 2021
Lynn Creek Connectivity Improvement Project: Construction started - Completion Fall 2021

early Fall as in Early-Mid October is what I am thinking, so that would be 5ish months.

I drive both ways through the area today and I really think this will solve the current issues short term for sure. mid-term. not so sure.

also the new overpass/lane show in the shot above looks amazing in person. long needed and should really make that onramp much safer.

I do feel that the reworked on- and off-ramps, while not as glamorous as some other aspects of the project, will play a big part in the overall improvements for freeway traffic. Westbound from the bridge, once you get past Exit 22, the highway has two lanes all the way to the top of the Cut that are essentially uninterrupted by merging or departing vehicles. Eastbound, it is the same for traffic after the Deep Cove underpass, with merging traffic focussed on the third lane. This should cut out a lot of the slowdowns that currently occur in those areas.

Thanks for posting that image; I had not yet noticed that they had paved what will become the westbound on-ramp in that area.

I don't know how well the ramp light here will work whenever there is a semi trying to accelerate from a stopped position. I feel like the metered ramp will be in effectively using the third lane but we shall see.

There's been an excavator on the Main Street onramp for the past few nights moving dirt around on the south side of the new bridge.
