I would qualify that as gentrification and I've witnessed it in ample US cities especially near the Eastern seaboard. There's a lot of architecture there that can be restored and resold at spectacular profits.

We've tried to replicate that vibe here and ended up with Railtown.

Whyte Ave was absolutely thriving this afternoon! Lots of pedestrians, busy patios, and live music descending from the Commercial. It was an almost perfect day.

Improvements:
- I'd like to see far fewer empty storefronts. I'm looking at you, Southpark.
- The land east of Southpark is fenced-off grass.

- I want more noise enforcement of motorcycles and vehicles. I'm almost deaf from those modified exhausts.

Consumption of Cannabis Infused Drinks in Public Parks

That Administration explore the implications of permitting the consumption of cannabis infused drinks in select river valley parks and report back to City Council.

^seeing that dog park on 'trophy tower' site will never not make me laugh. That site could have left the baccarat still operating given nothing materialized on the land and, objectionable as it was, brought in more traffic than the new casino ever did

Residential infill projects have added new housing to mature neighbourhoods, but commercial infill could be the key to revitalize these areas and support business owners.

“Edmonton has made really impactful strides around residential infill,” Mariah Samji, executive director of the Infill Development in Edmonton Association (IDEA), told Taproot in an interview with Speaking Municipally.

According to Sanji, the next step is commercial infill. Samji said the addition of busier commercial sites could help to bring back vibrancy to Edmonton communities.

Infill is the process of developing vacant or under-used residential, commercial, and institutional lands to “fit the needs of today.”
