Well, I thought I had something exciting to share. I guess if your into parking lots it might be.

The land is being cleared on the Northwest corner of Pine Glen Rd. and Gunningsville Blvd. Turns out that it will be parking for the Animal hospital on the diagonal corner.

I always wondered how well that animal hospital was doing. I guess if they need extra parking, they must be doing OK.

My fiancée used to work at that location, that’s the only emergency animal hospital in greater Moncton, it’s open 24/7. She said the parking was awful when she worked there so I’m glad they are expanding it.

So the NW corner; that would be parking space across Gunningsville? Meaning that you'd have to park and then go across the Blvd. to the hospital?

Indeed. This is in fact "kitty-corner" (pun intended) to the animal hospital proper, and is therefore not ideal. Parking may be necessary for the facility, but I find this disappointing.

I have a few friends who work there and have said that small corner section will be parking for now, but long term goal is to use that location for when they need to expand. Currently they don’t have any expansion plans.

I would agree MonctonRad. Looking at Google Maps it would appear that there's a bit of room on the north side of the building that they could have used. It certainly would have been more convenient. I assume they considered that and decided to go across the roadway. It just doesn't feel right.

I’m a bit confused with their long-term plans because they don’t own the propert on the NE. They are likely leasing the land kitty-corner to their building.

Maybe he's referring to the section on the north end of their current building. I looked at the hospital on Google Maps, and there appears to be some space there that would be usable. I thought they could have used it for additional parking instead of creating more parking across the road. So they could be saving the area at the north end of their building in case they want to expand the hospital sometime in the future.

This isn’t new information, my source told me that the small plot of land on the corner next to the building facing Gunningsville blvrd. , would be someday used for expansion. She never mentioned if they owned the land, I’m sure they have these conversations.

Here's a good screenshot from the above video. I initially thought, at the beginning of this project. they were going to excavate the whole gate, keep expanding the overpass bridge and let the river flow under the whole expansion. Now I see the cost savings in infilling the gates area and having the new bridge use this as a landing area to keep the current off/on ramps in and out of Riverview.

I took a walk over there yesterday evening, and I must admit that I am very impressed at how quickly the river is adapting to it's new watercourse. I dare say that a few months of normal tidal action is going to flush a lot of the sediment out from underneath the new bridge. The causeway replacement project seems to be progressing very well.

It's a VERY strong current, yes. It rips quite hard over those exposed flats/rocks on the upstream side (are those rocks? I was surprised to see them, if so). At 2:20 in the vid, for reference.

There was something I was wondering when I watched the video: are they going to fill in the recessed areas between the concrete parts that stick out? If so how would they be able to pack in the fill right up to the steel plates?
