Humaniti you mean? The promoter said that if the Tramway system is going ahead, the project could go ahead too and now that the Tranway system was recently confirmed, there are good chances to see this project rising off the ground in the coming years.

I think the quality of our projects varies from one to another. Some are meh and others are rather good.

Overall, there have been a welcome change in the last decade about densification and taller projects here and there. Also, in my opinion, the project in or around the Downtown core are generally more pleasant to look at and more raffined. The projects that I shared are all in the former suburbs except the two projects in Pointe-aux-lièvres.

SoHo Italia, a new addition to the Dow's Lake cluster. Claridge Icon is right across the street (but not in the renderings).

Erin Square...another Pemberton project in Erin Mills, Mississauga. (I took these yesterday) This developer's been building for 20 years now in this area...though because it's Pemberton, it's a lot of units....and that's it. Looking right on the first image from the newest towers UC, those are all of Pembertons newest towers in the park.

Claridge Moon, being built on top of a Lyon Station entrance. The big parking lot across the street should start construction by the end of the year, an amazing M+M project.

No photos since I was driving, but Alterra's 159SW condo at Wellesley/Sherbourne is hideous! Tridel's Via Bloor isn't much better although it looks pretty cool from Rosedale Valley Rd. Then there's loads of grey boxes near Wilson Station that could've been saved with colour, brick and texture. 81 Wellesley St East looks decent; around the corner TeaHouse may be one of the rare aA designs I'm not a fan of.

But what's most disgusting is the grey mcmansions replacing modest red brick bungalows in Willowdale, New Toronto, Kingsway/everywhere really or Victorian semis in Summerhill, Leslieville etc. WTF are people destroying Toronto's heritage?

Ottawa will be implementing zoning to prevent this from happening. It will no longer be possible to replace a single family home within urban Ottawa with a larger single family home. I have no map for reference, but from my understanding this includes mid-century neighbourhoods like Alta Vista, McKellar Park, Overbook for example.

If one wants to demolish a sfh, they must build one of the same footprint, or multi-units (2+).

And new R4 zoning that now sweeps many sfh heavy areas, dating back from the 1800s, up to about the 1960s, will allow for 8-12+ units depending on lot width.

https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/ottawa/r4-zoning-review-planning-committee-1.5718664

These new rules are not about protecting heritage, but adding significant density to the urban area. They are being put in place in a way to somewhat "protect" the character of neighbourhoods with some set-back and parking rules.

Yeah, it looks intriguing. I'm curious to see how it works out. It addresses 2 issues common to that stripped-down modern reinterpretation of a classic medium-scale residential building. The cladding adds texture and the wood adds some warmth. Modern architects are allergic to ornamentation and colour was outmoded in the 2010's during the "grayscale" craze.

Parts of Quebec City remind me a bit of Brussels in terms of buildings and styles, the hills, and the mix of old and new.

Kengo Kuma's Alberni is over halfway up. As with Vancouver House, the ultra-luxury market here seems to be all about how far one can lean a tower in a seismic zone without toppling over.
