The amount of water moving in that vid is astounding.

I haven't had the chance to go fly over it yet, I agree, that's a lot of water moving holy!

I can't wait to see this finished!

Yeah, once it's all finished and the landscaping is done, it should be very nice.

It sold in the fall for $48 thousand even though it's assessed for over $100 thousand. I think at some point we'll see it demolished and this lot developed. It's a good location, right on the main drag in Riverview. At this point somebody is paying taxes of $5,000 a year so I can't imagine they'll sit on it for ever.
I drove by this site this morning and there is now some work going on. The building looks to be pretty much gutted, and the old wooden siding is being removed. The truck in front was from a renovation company, so it doesn't look like we'll see a new building erected. I guess the lot isn't big enough for another apartment building. However the old abandoned dry cleaning building was a real eyesore, so whatever they're doing will be an improvement. Especially since it's such a visible location.

The Sparkle Dry Cleaners business at 699 Coverdale was closed about 12 years ago. Because it was a dry cleaners, it required expensive soil testing in order to receive a clean bill of health from the province, which proved to be an impediment to resale for more than a decade.

Hub Renovations spent almost a year working with the owner, local environmental company, the town, and the province to clear the title and the property and make it useable once again as a retail or commercial property.

The soil on the property has been cleared by the province.

The building itself was built as a house in 1948 and is in excellent shape, despite the awful appearance of the cladding and shingles. Unfortunately modern commercial code makes the building impractical for renovations and reuse.

The land and building or building alone has been for sale for the past six months, but the cost of moving or removing the building remained an impediment. Reluctant to smash and relegate a perfectly good structure to landfill, Hub Renovations contracted Nuttall Restorations to disassemble, save and remove the structure for reuse elsewhere.

The land will be flattened and regraded to allow a new structure to be built at this prime location.

What an excellent spot for a new retail/commercial business, this place has been an eyesore on coverdale road for a long time. The makeover on the west end of Riverview continues.

Interesting information and history. I hadn't thought about the soil aspect, considering the chemicals used in dry cleaning. And although it looked awful, the building appeared to be solid. It's great that it can be removed and re-used, and as you've said this is a prime location. There's a lot of potential customers passing right by the property daily, so a commercial business seems like a good idea.

Looks like they're 1/2 way there with the massive 40' high retainer wall. That must be one hell of a price tag. Wanted to take some drone pics, but the wind was too much.

River Run Through It

From the Riverview foot path looking west. Will soon be unrecognizable once they infill the old causeway gates. It's nice that they designed it to look similar to the Gunningsville crossing.

Love this picture. That's a great perspective for showing the relationship of this project to Bella Casa.

That's a massive retaining wall, considering it's another 13' deep underground. I drive by the site quite often, and they've been working on Saturdays plus I've seen them there well into the evenings.

I must say that I'm impressed with the pace at which this crew is working. As I said in my last post, I've noticed them working on weekends and evenings on several occasions. It should be interesting watching their progress.

When finished, it'll really change the look of that section of Coverdale Road. Big improvement over that scrubby looking lot that had the for sale sign on it for years.

I presume this is a full fledged tower crane.

If so, this will be tower crane #5 active in the metro Moncton region, and with the imminent arrival of the tower crane at Tannery Place North that will be tower crane #6.

And, 2430 Mountain Road and 106-124 Weldon will both justify tower cranes too. We may shortly have eight tower cranes in Moncton at the same time. This will certainly be a record!

Off topic, but I think it’s time they plant a lot of trees on that old dump hill. It will never be built on, so why not plant trees and do what you can to turn it into a nature park. Put in some ponds for birds etc.

Could they be using this one to start and then go with a full tower crane later on?
