I'd like to see Ladner Exchange get relocated closer to Trenant Park Square.

Some of them are floating around online (I just did a google image search). What areas are you looking for?

I haven't heard anything about moving it and honestly I can't see it happening anytime soon. The current location is an off-street loop with dedicated parking next to it - moving it would put it on-street next to a strip mall with no dedicated transit parking.

He obviously has some attachment with bus exchanges in the middle of town.

I don't think anything's going to happen to Ladner Exchange as a facility until Delta decides to change up the land use around that area, which they really ought to; I mean it's municipal land and hospital land with a lot of empty space.

My personal vision would be for the existing district near the 17A/Ladner Trunk to become a new transit village, anchored by a fully enclosed rapid bus station built on either the shoulders or median of the 17A and an adjacent bus loop (linked by pedestrian overpass), forming the new "Ladner Exchange". This complex would be located next to the Delta Municipal Hall.

Transit connections to South Delta would be centered around a new Rapid Bus line that starts at Bridgeport, stops at the Ladner rapid bus station, continues to a new bus exchange adjacent to Tsawwassen Mills, then continues down 52 Street to terminate somewhere in Tsawwassen. This would replace 601 as the 'trunk' service to get into the area. The 601 would be retained but redirected to terminate at the new Ladner Exchange instead of going to Bridgeport. Thru travellers required to transfer to the new RapidBus, but the 601 would operate at triple or quadruple the service frequency all-day.

Direct service on the 601's route to Bridgeport could be retained in the peak hours on a supplemental route that skips the new Ladner Exchange. Meanwhile the 620, oriented at ferry passengers, could continue to operate as-is or as an extension of the new Rapid Bus, stopping at the rapid bus station on the 17A in Ladner.

But something like this would depend on whether Delta muni is willing to do a significant redevelopment of these lands and support a transit village, and whether their residents would be willing to support it. Not sure if that will happen in my lifetime, unfortunately.

That Ladner park & ride lot is awesome, as it provides a great meeting spot with free parking for carpooling for a day trip to Victoria (in pre-Covid times).

Would you have this new bus loop / exchange / station run parallel to 17A or Ladner Trunk, and how would buses get in and out of it?

??? I think I missed something in translation.

TransLink used to have pdfs of their maps on their site but they disappeared when the system was attacked and for whatever reason haven't returned.

Not on-street, but convert part of the parking lot into an off street bus exchange. Perhaps Ladner Centre or Trenant Park can be redeveloped and this could be included. TP was purchased back in September for $64.5m. Who knows what they plan on doing with it.

Had some fun recently. Red could be either BRT or LRT, not grade separated. Thick lines are underground, thinner lines are at-grade.

This should be good till 2030. I could never get behind skytrain through farmland to Langley, and am more supportive of doubling the size of our commuter rail network instead

2050, with at least 4-8 stories everywhere within 2-4 blocks of all the LRT lines:

Downtown - for the North Shore line, a Robson alignment would serve the West End better (Coal harbour people aren't transit users). Here it's assuming the tunnel under stanley park will emerge ideally as a new lower deck of the Lions Gate bridge - which requires raising the upper vehicle deck to maintain clearance for cruise ships...

West Vancouver

North Vancouver

Point Grey - In hindsight I think Wesbrook is unnecessary and having UBC as the terminus is better for the majority of riders.

South Vancouver - Marine will be a multi-modal transit hub akin to Waterfront, with commuter rail transfers for most of the Fraser Valley

North Burnaby

South Burnaby

Richmond

Surrey

South Surrey/White Rock

In the distant future...

Coquitlam

Langley

Maple Ridge

Abbotsford

They could barely add the weight of the widened decks for the Lions Gate Bridge. I doubt they are going to string SkyTrain on it. And the long term population for Moodyville is 4000 people. And the Indian Reserve down near Lonsdale Quay will never let overhead guideways cutting across their land, they're already fed up with the rail line.

Well I guess it's fair game to wait until the shovels are in the ground for the Expo line to Langley... but a big part of being able to secure the votes funding from the Provincial government was extending the Expo line to Langley . IJS.

SkyTrain to Langley's just as much about turning the everything-to-Whalley road/bus network into a proper grid. But we can agree to disagree.

It is annoying how everyone focuses on the Skytrain and ignores WCE expansions. Toronto' GO and Montreal's EXO has expanded beyond their initial line, sadly WCE hasn't. A lot of the reasons everyone likes to say involves a busy bridge. Well, replace it. Spend a billion dollars there instead of any eastern expansion of the Skytrain. Connect to both Ferry Terminals and to White Rock. Maybe have a reverse commute to Whistler so people don't have to live up there. The highways are only going to get more congested. The Skytrain won't do as much as a WCE expansion.

Surrey SkyTrain extension: 40-64k riders a day within 15 years of service.

West Coast Express: 10k riders a day after 24 years of service.

We could always use more commuter rail, but let's not blow things out of proportion.

From the start, how much did the Skytrain get expanded?
How much did the WCE get expanded?
Add one more Skytrain train, how many people per day?
Add one more WCE train, how many people per day?
