Agreed. I was happy enough with the Gulch development happening, but found the renderings a little lack luster. Something of this scale could be a truly world-class development. Here's to hoping.

Just a heads up, the rendering above was just a concept, and the article suggested it was rejected in a previous RFP for the project. I speculate that they will move forward with the most recent renderings for the adjacent parking lot, but the rest of the gultch is probably going to be headed up by the new architect. I would also think the basic street grid and parking deck structure for the entire project is probably set in stone, since they have already done the traffic study and a lot of ground work with the current grid. Perhaps only the buildings will be designed by the new architect- but what do I know.

Agreed - I think the bones will remain relatively the same with a tad more compelling architecture and *fingers crossed* a little more density.

I wish I had more insight on when to expect master plan 2.0 - it was promised by year end and you'd think you would want to beat Christmas.

I’m really happy they are keeping the connection, too. We need to better connect south downtown and castleberry hill.

The main level opens onto "The Canyon," a 740-foot-long underground promenade below street level between the buildings and viaduct that could include dining and entertainment.

This sounds great! The whole area should become the entertainment district Atlanta lacks! With centennial park, the sports stadiums, GWCC; this area is perfect to become a focal entertainment area

I thought the exact same thing. There's so much potential for it in the area that is currently getting so much investment.

The old Gulch this morning (beautiful cloudless sky). Strangely I have always had a petite fascination with this conifer. Rooting

for it to survive development.

There is some work happening behind the scenes. I don't know what I can say about it but I've seen a subsurface model of the gulch.

I worked on the State Farm Arena renovations and the foundations for that new section of stands required micropiles 80-100 ft deep.
