I missed that one. Considering they had the retail wrong, there's a reasonable chance they got the height wrong.

This might be an unpopular opinion, but i feel like this project should be on lebreton flat/bayview/Zibi with the balconies facing the river. Seems out of place on Lyon. Dont get me wrong its my favorite proposal by far, but I feel that it will clash with the rest of the area. its just too nice lol.

I don't disagree. There's little within the traditional CBD or Escarpment District of this caliber. We might be able to point to Performance Court and the WEP, but that's a stretch.

That said, it's good that we'll at least have these three towers providing some unique architecture in our traditional skyline, and since only the top few floors of the two tallest towers will be visible, it should end up looking pretty good and give the skyline some variety without standing out like a sore thumb.

I hope we don't end up with a district of Starchitecture at Lebreton/Zibi/Bayview (like the City of London, for example), and so far that doesn't seem to be the case. Zibi has some high quality buildings without screaming for attention. The Trinity towers are relatively basic, maybe a bit too basic for what will be the tallest building(s) for decades, if not forever. LeBreton, well, we shall see. Claridge still hasn't produced of proposed anything earth-shattering. The library is above average, but won't be super visible. Who knows what the library parcel or the rest of LeBreton will look like.

Great summary. These 3 areas are taking far too long to develop but they will surely be one of the most architecturally interesting areas of the city (Library, Zibi, LRT stations, Bayview (maybe), War Museum).

Overall i think the project is great on Lyon but Im really hoping we see similar caliber for the LeBreton development. Trinity Bayview is boring but not offensive and a welcomed project to bring real density to the downtown. I'm kind of hoping the Zibi developers get their hands on LeBreton, it would be an extension from the Islands and im sure they would design Lebreton in a way that would naturally connect it to Zibi (Islands) but im getting off topic here.

I agree. I really don't know why the city doesn't look at what Zibi is doing, and let them remodel the whole rest of Lebreton flats with Zibi. That way they can merge together and create a new district of our downtown. They're doing a great job so far, really wish we didn't only have Rendezvous or DevCore proposals...

I'm assuming those construction trailers on site are for Claridge Moon across the street?

Correct. They were added there when construction started.

This applications seeks to add hotel use as a permitted use under the recently approved zoning (R5Q[242] S89-h) with associated parking. The proposed site will be comprised primarily of residential units with the bottom two floors operating as commercial/retail space and a City dedicated park. The

proposal requests that hotel be limited to a maximum of 45% of the total gross floor area (GFA) of the development.

Potentially a hotel involved with this as well. Site plan is still saying 35 stories for the tallest tower

I'm about to cast a spell: one, two three, may this 35 that I see be nothing else but 53, the three for the five, and the five for the three, so this tower may rise for everyone to see.

Alright, play time's over. I just hope it won't blend too much with the neighboring buildings and can still stick out in the skyline. It would be a shame to lose such magnificent architecture in a sea of blend buildings.

"The development includes a total of 353,241 sq.ft. of residential GFA, 288,755 sq.ft of hotel GFA and 24,995 sq.ft of commercial/retail GFA, all which accounts for approximately 666,991 sq.ft. of GFA. This translates to 541 residential units and 622 hotel units. A total of 266 residential parking stalls, 69 hotel parking stalls, and 84 visitor stalls are proposed."

Just read through the report, they are making some sound logic especially with this being so close to the LRT. I for one love the design, the height, and what they want to bring to the downtown with this proposed project. Cannot wait for them to break ground and bring this to life. Anyone have an idea when that could be?

Last article I read back in April, they said 6 months, so hopefully we see some progress thus Fall.

622 hotel rooms would be the biggest hotel in Ottawa. Westin is the current title holder at 492.

I thought the site was being used by Claridge has a construction parking lot for the Moon project. Didnt expect this project to start until Claridge was done with Moon.

Depending on the Moon progress, they could start digging around the Claridge trailers. It's also a question about whether they will build the entire parking garage in one shot or phase it out, as the towers will be.
