I travelled to Winnipeg Via Toronto on March 10. As we pushed back from the gate at YHZ you could see at least 8 WestJet planes at neighbouring gates with engine covers and heated wheel covers in place. These were obviously being parked in Halifax for quick deployment when their service resumes. With Moncton being the closest airport to Halifax, it must be convenient to prepare them for test/troubleshooting flights.

Did a little bit of plane spotting in the misty Moncton this afternoon.

PAL Airlines Dash 8-100
PAL Airlines Beech 1900D
Air Canada Express Mitsubishi CRJ-200ER

That CRJ is some nice to watch takeoff. Really quiet jet with a nice sound.

So, it would appear that YFC will be joining YQM in having service via PAL to Deer Lake and St. John's. Flights from YQM to Ottawa are also expected via PAL in the future, but the flight from Freddy to YHZ seems unique (unless there will be a change in the offing for YQM too). This is possible as the status of the Air Canada puddle jumper from YQM to YHZ is currently uncertain.

Looked at the PAL site, and noticed YSJ, ZBF, YYG and YQY are also now showing on their booking drop-downs (in addition to YQM, YFC)... not sure if they have always been there or if its a possible sign of future announcements.

The PAL YHZ-YSJ/YFC schedule shows 5 days a week starting August 2nd, and the flight appears to stop at YSJ and continues onto YFC. Runs as PB1984 YHZ-YSJ-YFC-YSJ-YHZ with a 37 seat Dash8-100.

The original PAL route out of Bathurst was for workers going to Wabush. This route has been transferred to Moncton. I wouldn't hold my breath over a PAL return to Bathurst, unless they are thinking about a route to Halifax or Montreal. This could be possible.

That was the flight to Charlo, PAL never served Bathurst before.

I hope PAL comes to ZBF. They really need air service in the north and I think AC will have a hard and long look as to reestablishing service there. Hope I'm wrong but unless the politicians get involved big time. AC will send its equipment elsewhere to service larger markets. Unfortunate.

Had a couple of vacation days off this week, figured I'd hang around the airport on this windy misty rainy cold afternoon.

Transport Canada Surveillance Dash 8 (on their regular run)
Sunwing Airlines Boeing 737 MAX 8 (it came in from Mexico, not sure why)
Kaliffa Air Boeing-4HQF (came in for a lobster run)

Kinda of surprised to see over 20+ vehicles come in to watch the Kaliffa landing.
