The new Central Library, the next phase of Claridge's cheapo clapboard/tin condos and a tender for a new development between Pimisi Station and the Library are all happening right now. At least it's something!

I mean the Library isn't reaaally on what I truly consider the Flats but sure, and yeah the condos I'll believe it when I see dirt moving but I'm not too optimistic

Also Occured today was digging in the new large tower site at Zibi

I also saw what looks like the start of the digging process for the new tower.

They've definitely cleared the area to start the digging at the very least

I did witness the digger working and trucks hauling dirt away myself so the digging has 100% begun.

I went driving through Zibi a few times today before starting work. It really changes the feel of downtown Ottawa. You feel like you're in a totally different city. I can't wait for the buildings that are under construction to be done. And it looks like they've started digging for the co-living building.

I'm no expert but the work at the base of the future 25 story tower looks like simple soil remediation to me, it doesn't look like they are digging for the foundation at this point.

Often times remediations are done in conjunction with site development to streamline everything. That being said, you would expect to see them drill in the shoring piles first before digging so that they can install the shoring as they go. I haven't seen any evidence of that yet so perhaps you're right.

Zip line will be a good addition to the region's tourism offering. No longer need to drive a half an hour outside the city.

Not sure where else to post this, but we're talking tourism and the river here lately so...

I heard a rumour there's a contractor installing pumps and plumbing to create a massive fountain from the underside of the MacDonald-Cartier Bridge?? That they're mobilized now doing the work?

Anybody?

Nope. Have not heard of that. Unless the Casino is moving it's fountain with the fireworks

It would be ironic to have a giant fountain attracting the eye to the ugliest bridge in the region.

Hmm I see. Something like that could be interesting, especially since this bridge is going to be a lot more visible for a few years when the Alexandra is torn down.
